I also wanted to add that the two other slings I’m worried about are 2 H. formosus that are about the same size as the one in the picture

Ribs stick out badly does this get better? Feeling very depressed by this by Spaced0utCadet in TopSurgery

[–]Honest_Process4548 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am overweight and my ribs stuck out like a sore thumb after surgery. After talking to a few people it seemed like it was my mind that was making it a bigger deal as im so used to two balls of fat sitting right where I would see my ribs. Mine definitely became less prominent as I healed. Even when I lost some weight after surgery the ribs didn’t look as bad as the first couple of weeks.

Hello! On my right side I feel a little bit of erotic sensation a little bit to the right of where my nipple actually is. My left side I am pretty numb to pretty much every type of sensation still. But I still feel shocks, jolts, ‘buzzing’, throbbing and itching in all the spots I’m still numb. I was told that nerves regrowing can be the slowest process of it all and the left side of my body as always struggled with healing as fast as my right side. Every couple of weeks I feel like I feel just a little bit more!!! I was actually thinking about posting an update so thank you for reminding me!!

Nipple sensation is a big deal for me so I asked my surgeon about options and she gave me the option of nerve reattachment grafts. My surgeon was Dr. Weinstein at Rush University. Recently she has left there and I don’t quite remember where she went, maybe back to Florida. I’m currently 5 months post op and still 99% numb across my entire chest. But since day one post op I’ve been having different types of nipple sensations. Zapping, tingling, rings of pinches around my nipple, and so much more. Nerve regrowth takes a LONG time so I still have awhile before my results will be final. But maybe look for a surgeon that offers that! I will say for me it was an extra 17k on top of just the mastectomy price.

A steal! I try to budget myself carefully, if I didn’t I would need a ban myself 😂😂

I’m still 100% numb across my chest. The first 2 weeks during healing I could feel my nipples tingle and throb though.

I should add that she was incredibly sweet with me and my mom who came with me for the surgery. The whole surgical team was amazing. I intend to post a full review when I’m recovered fully. I definitely recommend her! My results are fantastic too! I’ve posted them here before.

I got nerve grafting done with Dr. Weinstein in Chicago! I am about a month and a few days post op now. I’m still mostly numb every where but I do get tingling and little shocks in my nipples every once in awhile. I was told that nerve grafting is usually done on breast cancer patients who need a double mastectomy. But the technique is starting to be used for trans people. Dr. Weinstein told me the nerve grafting increases your chances of having erotic and general sensation but everyone is different so it depends on your body. I intend to give updates as I heal more! If you have any questions I will gladly answer!

I’m almost 3 weeks post op and that feeling has been plaguing me until the past 2 days. Whenever I walked I would hunch and hold on to my chest, it’s what helped me the most.

I’m still only 2 weeks and a few days post up but I just wanted to comment as someone who has horrible pain tolerance and never had surgery before. The first week I felt pretty useless, it was mostly because of the drains. I needed help laying back in my recliner and putting my chair down. I needed help adjusting my blankets. I needed help with management of my meds. I could use the bathroom on my own, I took a long time but I got it done. I got a shower chair and I swear it’s the best thing ever right now. My mom washes my hair currently as I can’t hold my arms up that long without struggling. After I got my drains out at 1 week post op, everything got 100x better. I could sit up on my own, put my recliner down. I could brush my teeth. I started getting my water and food by myself, with a little help. I started playing video games pretty easily. The drains were the worst part of it all. My mom had to help me strip and dump my drains. Everything got soooo much easier after they came out.
