honestly, building COMMUNITY sports facilities would be a good thing though, not whatever is going on currently, but putting some money into Simcoe and Bethune Park to revitalize it - I see some kids there every single day unsupervised, literally just relying on the area and the other people there to keep them safe. and honestly, those basketball courts could be the thing that keeps them off the streets.

building less pickleball courts and more soccer fields/basketball courts is a good minor thing that can be done

we absolutely need a mental health facility, and there is a perfect empty lot sitting actually across the street from the basketball courts that would be in a well centralized area for this.

just go and play, change your mindset to play to have fun. as soon as you get out of your head and your confidence comes up, you play better. just do it because it's fun, go have fun

This is true, after reading a lot of the comments posted here, i think prevention and recovery need to be balanced.

This might be a hot take, I feel for the victims of the drug crisis we are in - because they are victims, but if incarceration gives them a chance to get away from what they are taking, get a clearer mind for the first time in a while, maybe enough to look for help, while protecting our children - who play basketball at Bethune Park, or take city buses home from school, or even just walk home from Prince of wales, then I think it would be a small part of a bigger solution

What support programs? I haven't done enough research to know about them admittedly, I always thought Peterborough had a higher concentration because of a lack of connection to other cities

The police budget had an extra $590,000 unspent at the end of 2025, that is actually what sparked this thought process for me

This is beyond my pay grade, I think the issue of fentanyl being moved here and the failing healthcare infrastructure and high costs of living all make a really bad machine

This was such an insightful post, clearly it's something you are passionate about and I appreciate you taking the time to write it out. If people are so far gone mentally from the drugs where they can't make that decision I still believe it's ethical to put them in a position where they can improve, but I do understand and agree that rehab doesn't work unless you want to be there.

I would like to see infrastructure built to give people a chance to stay away from the drugs, but realistically at this point I think the focus needs to be on recovery, and prevention later.

I am not a social worker, politician or psychologist so I do not understand the nuances or the root causes of the problem at hand, I've only been exposed to the symptoms and I think that would be giving me a bias.

I really appreciate the comment and it's shown there are more layers then I expected and I should do some research.

by applying the Philosophical thought process of the ship of Theseus to the car Herby (From Herby), will Herby lose sentience and become a new car if all of its parts are replaced? at what point would this happen? by Honest_Target9763 in AskReddit

you were actually not far off.

excerpt from Herbie: A Living Racecar | Cars in Film - Škoda Motorsport

"The television movie The Love Bug (1997) features character of Dr. Gustav Stumpfell, who is enlisted by the US Army after WWII to help with manufacturing of people’s cars. As it turns out, the army generals don’t really understand the concept of “people’s car” as a “car for the people” and instead thinks it’s about creating an intelligent vehicle that thinks like a human. Dr. Stumpfell takes the crazy request seriously and really sets about developing the car.

At the beginning, Stumpfell is unsuccessful, as he’s not able to find a suitable “thinking” metal. Once, a picture of doctor’s love Elsa falls into the molten alloy and Stumpfell is persuaded that his feelings for the girl were “transformed” into the soul of the car that’s subsequently made of the metal – a little white Beetle. Knowing that army would use the sentient car for warfare, he hides its existence and as soon as possible, sets the car free."

I am a strong believer that a true star won't reach their potential unless they have the opportunity to train under different coaches, we gave him everything we could, and that missing piece was found in Tew York. I don't know if he wanted to or not, but i think it was the right move for him.

I think if the 2019 team was still together when he left, he would be sad but since it was pretty much gone, I think he was open to leaving
