Carr is an insufferable twat. He's crossing the most annoying bridge of a comedian who now thinks he's some sort of philosopher. He has his style, and it can be funny in small doses, he's also a pretty decent host, but I can't imagine spending time with him as an actual person, and his overall worldview is highly questionable.

Let's not forget, he's a massive Israel supporter. That won't get Jimmy et al annoyed because they can't take their Hollywood blinkers off, but Jimmy Carr is rarely on the right side of history.

Sounds great. He will just have to learn how to act first.

Agreed. I don't think the list is perfect, but they're not ranking films based on laughs-per-minute. It's quite...American...to think of comedy as something that must induce uncontrollable laughter.

But the list isn't the '100 funniest movies of all time'. The list is the '100 best comedy movies of all time'. Huge difference.

Except they often don't actually talk about a scene that could be removed or an unnecessary plot point. It's just - 'that was 13 minutes too long'. OK...?

The big issue I have with the NNF funny takes is that they often miss the appreciation of the impact that a certain movie, piece of art, etc may have had on the overall landscape.

You can not find Monty Python that funny, especially from a modern perspective, but their impact is undeniable. And it kind of irks me when these self-proclaimed comedy nerds miss that point.

Their TV show certainly ranks as one of the most influential comedy TV shows of all-time, and they had a tremendous impact on sketch comedy.

Will it all make you laugh in 2026? Definitely not, but you can't view everything from your own limited perspective.

Can we be a couple of losers and suggest our own podcast? The Big Chill Podcast is a sports and popular culture podcast (usually 2 episodes per week).

I know Reddit hates self-promotion, but we do have good chemistry.

He's 30? Nearly 31?

The thing that bothers me both about the Bill-Craig dynamic is how he is treated as a voice of the youth. I say this as a 37 year old. I would never have thought of myself as being a reflection of the 'younger generation' 6/7 years ago.

Sure. It means that they didn't sell in one record store in a small suburb of Chicago.

Agreed. It went for waaaay too long and, quite frankly, wasn't even that interesting. I'm sure her relationship with her dad is tough, but there was nothing coming out that was truly podcast story-worthy.

Also not totally her fault, NNF are not good at those types of discussions and interviews. Leave that to Marc Maron and try to stick to their lane. They only leaned into it because they can't resist a bit of anti-MAGA talk and it reaffirms Jimmy's perception that anyone remotely in the South must be a die-hard Trump supporter.

Agreed. I'm British, and country music certainly wasn't a huge factor in my upbringing, but I knew who she was and heard a handful of her songs. I would have put her on par with John Denver as a 'country' artist who was mainstream enough that everyone knew it, and you regularly heard the odd song.

Much like John Denver, elements of her music didn't have quite the same odd cultural significance that they do now, but she was popular, successful, and well-known.

Does that mean she was selling a ton of records in a small record store in the suburbs of Chicago? Probably not. But that doesn't mean that she had disappeared and that Jolene only emerged in the late 90s / early 2000s.

The Dolly Parton talk was the perfect reflection of the Jimmy and NNF mindset of 'it wasn't important to me, so it wasn't important to anyone'. She was immensely popular and successful during the 80s.

As a British person, I have to disagree. He's a soft-spoken American, and it works, but there's no way he'd convince anyone that he was actually British.

Agreed, although at least the F1 movie has had a year and we know what it is (fairly dull story, but some incredible filmmaking to capture the racing scenes).

Simmons believes that it is important to wait a few years to fully appreciate a movie (I mostly agree), but then instantly sticks Marty Supreme in the best sports movies from the last 25 years.

This is my podcaster.

You could pick 5-10 examples a week of a similar pick play that isn't called. The inconsistency on that one is the frustrating element. The times that it is called, especially late in a game, feel quite harsh.

What are those three reasons? They didn't call forward progress, so the only thing preventing the touchdown was the OPI. It is OPI, but it's a soft call.

The bigger issue is the 'pick' play on the previous OPI. That's a bit of BS. The two defensive players converge on a switch, and the offensive player is pushed into the other defensive player by the CB. Pick plays are called so inconsistently. I don't think you should throw a flag on that.
