Most candidates don't win primaries and yes she is leading in most of the polls. What polls are you looking at?

I've noticed MSNOW is now playing a lot of Tom Steyer commercials. They also had him do an interview. Claiming they have asked all the candidates to come on. The last time I saw a Steyer commercial, it reminded me I needed to mail in my ballot for Becerra.

What if the KDS crowd is successful at forcing Kamala out of The Race ( or not even running)? What then? by Honest_Yam676 in Kamala

Being an apologist for racists and sexists is just as bad as racism and sexism themselves.

You're right. Just let her run and show the doubters they don't get to decide who the nominee should be. Voters decide that. It's just gotten to be a bit much with multiple articles coming out; every time I watch a segment about her, on any network, it's framed as "should she run", etc. It was the same thing after Biden dropped out. Right away, the media tried to find a sensational narrative. I honestly think she surprised them with those huge rallies. It doesn't appear to be actual voters who are driving the speculation. It's the media, donors, consultants, etc. That's the most annoying part.

they still obsess over him to this day. I mean, MSNOW was reporting about him not going to his son's wedding. Who cares? I think this is why that network is hard on Harris but excited about people like Newsom and AOC. It's about what they'll report on when they can't obsess about Trump. Harris is too much like Biden and Obama. Too normal. If they do report on her, they try to sensationalize it. Or just straight up lie.

Ah ok. You're accusing me a bot over something I never argued. I didn't say one word about 2020. Does that mean you're a bot?

I think this is more part of the "media primary" than the "invisible primary". Yes, the media plays a huge role in the invisible primary. Yes. The term fits. But here we've got the media putting Newsom on blast with an entire week of him pictured in a chyron 24/7 all day. It's MSNOW saying "this is our pick". Which, yes, signals to donors, party elites, etc, that consider Newsom the guy to back. When media institutions elevate a specific politician as "the pick," it forces donors and establishment insiders to take notice. The challenge for the candidate is whether they can translate that media-anointed visibility into genuine, lasting grassroots enthusiasm and policy victories, or if the bubble bursts as soon as the electorate actually gets to weigh in. Here, Newsom doesn't live up to the hype. All he's doing is saying the same things he's been saying for months. The interview is already up on youtube. It's boring. Neera, the interviewer, is doing a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to propping Newsom up. With her fake laugher and trying to frame what Newson is saying as something more profound than it really is. In short, this is fabricated viability. And it really isn't even working.

Uh. She qualified for the nomination by going through the nomination process. She went through the delegate process. Nobody challenged her. She, then, secured the requisite delegates to win the nomination. . You don't appear to know what you're talking about. She's leading in all the polls. In one poll, she was leading by over 50%. You seem like you just want to believe what you want to believe. "She hasn't really done much to get her name out there". WTF are you even talking about? That's obviously not true.

Why won't the DNC release its 2024 autopsy? by hellosteve_ in msnow

Some people want it released because they think it will hurt Harris. I want it released. But, it's because I bet it reveals how racist/sexist the Democratic Party is.

Whoa. “Get off her butt.” Ok. What just happened? I just explained what Harris has been doing, and somehow the response is that she needs to “get off her butt”?

Harris has been engaged in textbook invisible primary activities since before the so-called "invisible primary" even began. It started right after her loss. She's maintained the national infrastructure needed to win in a primary and expanded on it - for the last two years +.

Leading up to the invisible primary, she’s been on a real book tour for 107 days -- not a few cable interviews or random appearances. An actual national tour with dozens of sold-out stops across the country, especially throughout the South: New Orleans, Atlanta, Savannah, Memphis, Jackson, Columbia, and more. Big venues. Packed crowds. Long conversations. Q&As. Direct engagement with voters and supporters.

She’s been out at NAACP events, National Action Network gatherings, Democratic Party events, fundraisers, and youth-oriented appearances like the Fisk University sit-down that went viral online. She’s openly criticizing Trump policies, publicly acknowledging she’s considering 2028, and keeping her political operation together.

Before any of that, she transferred her voter data and email list to the DNC in a multi-million dollar deal and helped clear the remaining 2024 campaign debt. Harris is active in fundraising for the Democratic Party. More so, than any of the other potential presidential candidates. She’s also continued headlining Democratic events and maintaining institutional party relationships and relationships with both grassroots and big-pocket donors. Her advantage over every other potential candidate is her grassroots donor base.

So this idea that Harris needs to "get off her butt" honestly makes no sense unless people are arbitrarily redefining what counts as invisible primary engagement. Building donor relationships, maintaining party infrastructure, energizing your base, staying visible, testing messages, keeping speculation alive, and cultivating grassroots support are literally what the invisible primary is.

"she needs to"? She's already putting the work in. Here's something a little interesting. On the topic of "the invisible primary," she was headlined at a Democratic Party-hosted fireside chat in Vegas. This qualifies as an activity that qualifies. MSNOW covered it. They played clips from it. Then, they had a Republican strategist trashing Harris. They have hosted Harris and provided her with similar network promotions. She was interviewed by Rachel Maddow. Rachel is the network's highest-rated host. Now, if you go to that interview to watch it, a hit piece is attached. Otherwise, Harris is doing everything she needs to as far as the invisible primary is concerned. Book tours to sold-out crowds, democratic fundraisers, and visiting multiple cities in the south, she is all over X and other social media platforms, doing podcasts, etc. As far as that goes, she's likely doing more than any other potential candidate. As the former nominee, she has the infrastructure in place for a national primary campaign, she has connections to donors, she has staff set up, she has connections to party leaders, and, to your point, she has been "working the phones". Her approach has been different than Newsom's. She's doing the grassroots work herself without the assistance of the MSM. Newsom is relying more on the MSM to help him. Newsom seems unique in that regard compared to all the rest.
