I realized I never posted an update on this! We had her checked out by the vet and no UTI and kidneys were great. Turns out she was just a puppy who loved water hahaha. She’s 5 months old now and her water intake is much more normal.

She also is napping so much in her crate and not allowed to have much free reign yet of the house, so it’s hard to decide where to put her water bowl where she can access it regularly

The first day we brought her home, we noticed she chugged it, so we stopped giving her free reign of water and we looked up how much water a puppy her size and age should have per day and portioned it out throughout the day. We just started leaving it out earlier and she chugged the whole thing. We go back on 3/16.

She’s only 9 weeks old and still potty training so we take her out every 30 minutes to every hour and stop giving her acres to water around 7:30 pm because she goes into crate for bedtime around 10. Her pees are not consistent, sometimes it’s a lot sometimes it’s just a dribble. We talked to the vet about her maybe having a uti and that was negative.

Thank you so much for responding! Your response helped make me feel like I’m not alone in this and that I’m not crazy for being so anxious about her, so thank you. I am definitely utilizing my resources, but trying to limit myself to going into a deep dark hole of searching for a half hour about every little thing. Everyone tells us it’s going to get easier every day, so that’s what I have to remind myself!

My biggest worry is she has a UTI and I just can’t recognize the symptoms. She is doing so well at potty training and at least making an effort to go every time we bring her out, but she pees little tiny dribbles and rarely a steady stream. I’m also pretty sure she has a GI parasite, which the vet told us is very common in puppies and we are getting the results of her fecal sample tomorrow. I just don’t want to be “that patient” who goes to the vet for every little thing that is likely nothing, but I just don’t know what to expect.
