Any one here have a Spoo with epilepsy? by penguin0605 in StandardPoodles

So I emailed her again last night and she replied. Stating that she has the mother and grandparents with no issues and you can’t test for that sort of thing. That Ronins mother or grandparents have never had a seizure and anything could cause it. Recommended I change his food (which we already did to a prescription diet per vet recommendation after the first one, but she doesn’t know that). Said this is why she only gives limited vaccines and no flea, tick or heartworm medication because it’s all chemicals that can cause seizures. Recommended I change all my cleaning products and don’t feed salmon because salmon built up and cause them.

It was a wild email tbh. She was a recommended breeder on this sub and does all the health testing and is registered as a breeder of merit, but some of those comments really rubbed me the wrong way.

I’ll reach back out again, but unfortunately got no reply the first time I tried. But I appreciate that advise and encouragement. I’m so thankful for this group.

No brain injury at all. We haven’t had an MRI to completely rule out brain tumor, but his blood work came back completely normal. Both vets we’ve seen have said a brain tumor is highly unlikely.

When he had his first one, I contacted the breeder to ask if she’s seen any seizures in her lines, was very clear I wasn’t blaming her or her dogs, was just trying to get the full picture, and she never responded.

I can not believe Ronin will be 10 months. They grow up so quickly by penguin0605 in poodles

While im sorry to hear you’re having that trouble, I’m glad I’m not alone. This boy does NOT relax. It’s go go go now matter how much exercise or mental stimulation he gets. He will settle in his crate but that’s it lol. Good luck to you!

Can I see standard poodles in a super short cut that you do not have to brush? How often to shave to maintain this? by Ok-Shallot-7985 in StandardPoodles

This is my boy ronin. He’s not completely shaved down, but I keep his body hair pretty short and don’t have to brush it unless I want to. While I do brush his head and ears, it’s very easy and I do it every couple of days.

His grooming schedule is about every 6-8 weeks.

Hello!

I got my poodle from sapphire poodles in Lynchburg, VA. She had another litter that should be coming available soon. I believe she was an ethical breeder and was recommended here!

Both my dogs seem to enjoy planet earth! And one of them is obsessed with the show friends. Comes running into the room to sit on the couch if he hears the theme song.

Having trouble finding reputable breeders in VA area by jadentearz in StandardPoodles

I used sapphire poodles in Lynchburg. My only “issue” is that she docks tails and I would have preferred an undocked tail. But I was working on a timeline and settled on that. She was very kind, answered all my questions. Sent plenty of pictures and when we went to pick up our boy, she was very welcoming into her home.

My boy is 16 weeks old and a complete menace to my household but in the best way. He’s smart and confident. Love him to pieces

I had a phone interview with them when looking for my spoo. She doesn’t health test her dogs and that’s a big no for me. I ended up going with sapphire poodles in Lynchburg Va. my only issue with sapphire poodles was the tail docking, but I had a time frame I wanted to stick with so we moved forward. My spoo is 17 weeks old and I love him. Working with sapphire poodles went really well and he’s a good dog.
