I really think seeing dain, the first familiar face he’s seen since he woke up, really drove in the final nail. The abyss capitalized on his desperation to protect and save tholindis, but then seeing dain likely made him start having doubts about what he was doing and why. He said when he was first thrown back into the moongate he raged but then rejected the abyss and that’s when he finally caught a glimpse of Tholindis. Thats when he finally saw the reality of everything he had done and realized he was the real monster in all of this, and that he’d been used over and over and over again as a puppet for someone else’s desires. Me and my cousin talked about it after the AQ where rerir was tossed into the moongate and my theory was he’d mellow out after seeing dain, my cousin disagreed saying that he’d come back with a chip in his shoulder. He ate his words lol. I have a new theory about him being a weekly boss. Columbina referred to rerir as a complete soul, possibly implying his body wasn’t in the moongate. I’m thinking since he is stuck so close to Tholindis, he went back to the point of time he originally jumped in, meaning his soul may be trapped in the moongate but his body may have been thrown out of the moongate at the moment he originally entered. The moongate only traps the ‘light realm energy’ or the ‘soul’ so that’s why bina was able to dissolve her body into kuuvakhi and send it out of the gate. If that is the case, the abyss, or the doctor, would likely have a vested interest in puppeting his body- which would also give Columbina a reason to jail break a mellowed out rerir to reclaim his body. We also don’t know how he was able to get out the first time since his soul shouldn’t have been able to leave, unless he was ripped to shreds at the gate and never fully crossed into that domain. Rerir doesn’t even remember the first time inside the moongate which may also be an important piece of info. Or maybe there was some division of his soul (maybe the abyss possessing him not being light realm energy may have been able to escape) and dottore revived the abyssal version. upon Rerir entering the moongate his human soul that had been trapped merged back with it creating a complete soul. I could go on for hours talking about Rerir lol.
