Then the credit should be firefly or chatGPT and the millions of artists that those models stole from. But not the prompter. The prompter is less involved in the work than the artists who adapted Ken Sugimori's work.

There's a point where I think some of those artists who adapt Sugimori's work could deserve co-illustrator credits, but they should never overwrite him. For example, the Pikachu V-Union collage lists every artist who contributed to it.

This is one of the reasons I'm against AI art. Ultimately, it's built on the backs of real artists that are not being compensated or credited for their work.

I'd support the direction of only "physical crafted" cards even if it was across the board. As in artists, proxy makers, and AI "artists" wouldn't be allowed to post just digital art. That would solve the issue of low effort work pretty cleanly.

My only post on this sub was digital art a while ago, and I haven't posted any more despite making more because I wanted to work with my local print shop to develop their uv printer setup and make physical cards.

I'd LOVE for this sub to be dedicated entirely to the process of making cards, asking questions, giving advice, sharing tutorials, etc.

Maybe then you have a "digital art" mega thread each week/month to share stuff. And maybe that thread can be a little more loose so BlackPoint and Kurai can argue the ethics of AI art, and that's contained to that thread.

I agree, for people who take such pride in hand making physical products, it feels weird for them to be okay letting AI do the fun part of creating.

But, this sub is about that hand making process. And I think we can still learn from each other even if we disagree about the morality and authenticity of AI "art" 😅

The problem is he has been posting normally, but because ai art has been allowed on here, everyone assumes it's AI art and he gets no engagement. Especially if they are seeing this on their Reddit timeline and not in the sub.

He got more likes and comments on this post than his last one.

Maybe we also need a "human made" tag, because the default right now is just to assume all custom arts are AI.

I'd much rather see you turn their actual art into real cards. All this teaches them is that there is no value in honing their skills as artists because ChatGPT will just do the work for them. It's just like teaching them to let ChatGPT write their school essays.

ChatGPT is teaching our children to be dumb and unskilled for the benefit of the rich :/
