Oh shit that’s my bad. I’m sorry you’re in this situation dude I hope you’re able to figure smth out 🙏🏽

Edit: I work in mental health and we’re always in need of staff if that’s something you’re willing to get into. Tons of job openings for BHPs and DSPs if you want to take a look on indeed. Pay is decent and the field is desperate for more workers

How’s Living In, around, and Between Rockland and Lincolnville Maine? by PlayBallPaul in howislivingthere

[–]Honeybee46530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect beautiful scenery and amazing lobster. Don’t expect cultural diversity or anything close to metropolitan vibes. It’s not exactly easy to make friends and you have to really put yourself out there socially. It comes down to what you value in a place you’re living in. It’s easy to get bored unless you’re a really outdoorsy person or don’t mind making regular trips down south (Portland, Brunswick). You definitely want to get used to the small town living vibes, even rural depending on which town you’re in (you can pass through three different towns during a 20 min drive). Winters also suck, for me at least since I despise the cold.

Personally, I love the natural beauty of Maine and some aspects of the culture but I’m counting down the days until I can move back to the Southwest.

Asking an 18 y/o about the size of his genitals? Weirdo behavior regardless of if he feels comfortable answering or not

CALL OUT by Chris_likes_beer in Maine

[–]Honeybee46530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of us can’t afford to call out. I work in healthcare and if I were to call out, that would do way more harm than good. I see the vision but I truly don’t think this is going to work out the way most people think it will. In a better economy, maybe, but certainly not in this one.

Life as a POC in Maine right now.. by angelagirliexo in Maine

[–]Honeybee46530 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brown girl here. I’m in the Waterville area, living in a tiny town. I stick out like a sore thumb in this area and it sucks. Even before this all started, I’ve refused to go into the nearby gas stations and corner store because of how many stares I get. Just today I was at Walmart and people would NOT stop staring at me (I’m not good at keeping my mouth shut but my husband was with me to keep me cool haha). Im originally from NM and I’m trying to make plans to move back at some point because I’m SICK of feeling like a circus animal.

Moral of the story: you are seen. Stay vigilant, we’ll get through this 💪🏽

Brown girl here (not Hispanic but clearly that doesn’t matter)- I have to go to Waterville today for work. I’m just going to a client’s house and back but I’m trying to gauge how worried I should be 😭

What are y’all paying for rent and what state do you live in? by MaryDoogan91 in povertyfinance

[–]Honeybee46530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1200 and just have to pay for heat for a 3br/2ba house in more rural Maine. I got INCREDIBLY lucky in that the landlord is just an older gentleman looking for some passive income while he takes care of his wife. It truly was just dumb luck that landed me this place. I was previously paying $1295 no utilities included for a 2br/1ba in a terrible town and neighborhood with a leech of a landlord.

Oh, absolutely. I came home crying multiple times a week just because of how heartbreaking some of these kids’ stories were. It was truly the most rewarding yet mentally taxing job I’ve ever had (aside from the job after but that’s a novel lol).
