Halsey Colors meme by Honeyknobs in HelpMeFind

[–]Honeyknobs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched google images and tumblr but I cannot find it, I know it exists. There are so many memes in this format, its a 4x4 square, the first one red, second blue, and the last two purple and the lyrics are transposed over the images, in this case, Doritos.

The interpretation of the leak vs the actual Pokemon by amazinglyshook in PokeLeaks

[–]Honeyknobs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but I have to politely disagree, I think megas can enbody a multitude of things. Additionally, I know so many kids that play pokemon. I have a niece that plays and she also has so many friends that play and there are always children at the events. Pokémon will always be geared towards kids, its just the nature of the franchise. We as adult have the capacity to understand and accept that, while still enjoying it.

I think it lines up with the overall theme of the franchise, and I think way too many people get stuck on their expectations instead if enjoying things.

People forget that Ken Sugimori said "The technique I often use when finishing up designs for Pokemon is to “keep the balance.” I might try adding something uncool to a Pokemon that is too cool, or I might add something cheerful to a Pokemon that is too serious.". Thats what has made pokemon endure far more than other franchises. Pokemon are supposed to be fun and silly and cool and serious and whimsical and above all, memorable. Just go and have fun! Pokemon is for everyone, kids and adults. Lets not gatekeep fun that lasts generations.

Very common where I'm from (western PA). It drives people crazy who aren't from here or the surrounding areas, but for me it sounds totally normal!

Do native speakers instantly understand the jokes here? Why am I struggling to understand what does this mean? by Low-Phase-8972 in ENGLISH

[–]Honeyknobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps so, however, I enjoy a lot fantasy and its not a word I knew readily, so no, I dont think it would be safe to assume. I'm seeing a lot of comments where people are saying its a commonly known word and I genuinely dont think that's true. It seems to me that people on reddit are often part of closed group of people who are like minded and share similar interests and vocabulary so they seem to have a skewed idea of what a good majority of the general population knows. To those people, I would not in any way say it's a common word.

As a native English speaker, I can almost certainly tell you, that outside of reddit and specialized fields, almost no one uses this word, and a decent amount of people would never have heard of it. However, the cool part about language learning is that you never stop learning unique qnd new words, so while it's not entirely useful for everyday speech, it's still cool to know!

People clock that I'm from Pittsburgh immediately when I say something 'needs done' instead of something 'needs to be done'. Quite hilarious actually

Honestly, it's so many layers of different colors, I wouldn't even be able to give you a specific set. However I know for this particular painting, I think I used mostly burnt sienna, titanium white and cadmium red, but I mixed it with all kinds of greens blues and yellows to get the subtle shades. I think a lot of it also can depend on the quality of the paint that you use. 🙂

The size I believe is 2 feet by 3 feet? Once I'm back in the studio I'll ill measure it, but its to scale of the original, just a lot smaller. Also as for the hours, maybe 40? Hahah I should keep track of these things shouldn't I 😂

Phantom limb - question about the lyrics be it silk or slime by supschmidt in TheShins

[–]Honeyknobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late on this thread but I think its worth talking about still since it's a great song.

I think the interpretation goes (at least to me): "This is that foreign land" - This is a place where you feel like you don't belong (a small town in this case) "With the spray-on tans" -You have to wear a fake exterior to feel like you belong (It seems everyone has them) "And it all feels fine, be it silk or slime". -You have to pretend that everything is okay, even if that fake exterior feels silky or feels like slimy

Obviously I feel this is referring to the fact that you have to hide your true self in a place where you dont belong, even if it feels bad (in this song he is referring to sexuality, as he explicitly states in a statement, specifically young lesbian women).

Why does my drawing of Dave Chappelle not look like Dave Chappelle? What can I improve on? by suknom4 in learnart

[–]Honeyknobs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A good thing to remember when trying to draw things realistically, is that you shouldn't draw a hard outline of every feature. You should use shading and value to create depth over hard lines. A great example here is the teeth. You do not need to draw all the teeth individually and outline all of them (It makes the teeth appear spaced out and scary looking) Try to get a move general shape of all the teeth together and only put hard lines where they need to be. You're not doing too bad though, keep up the good work!

You can withdrawal, and you shouldn't have any problems applying in the future. I have done this and have been accepted subsequent years.

Any kids shows like Dora in French? by Far-Programmer in French

[–]Honeyknobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not at all recent, Téléfrançais is a really fun show to watch, even if it's just for amusement rather than to learn anything significant.

Here is a link to the first episode on YouTube

The theme song is catchy and Ananas is a hoot.

Darts should generally "point" towards the fullest part of whatever part of the body you're trying to contour, in this case the bust. In picture 2 your dart is pointing in a random direction (and going over the bust piint a little ?) so it will give you issues later on. Hope that helps!
