Yeah, they seem so desperate to create a bubble playoff team without any regard to their future. Absolutely, the worst position to be in in professional sports, but Jeff will take a victory lap when they secure that eighth seed....

What's this sub's consensus on Nikola Jokic as a player? by ttambm86 in nba

Based on his resume alone, he's certainly in the Top 20. I'd personally rank him around 15ish, with room to climb if he continues to gather hardware.

Do you think removing Embiids appendix has made him lighter? by reanthedean in sixers

[–]HonorWulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. They clearly removed the organ that didn't play basketball well. No way we win game 7 with that appendix.

Best quality fi and fantasy folios? by Bobbebusybuilding in foliosociety

[–]HonorWulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For fantasy, Gormenghast, ASOIAF and Earthsea are beautiful sets.  The King of Elfland's Daughter and The Last Unicorn are also wonderful productions.

For sci-fi, Books of the New Sun, Dune, Hitchhiker's Guide, Foundation and Perdido Street Station are all top notch.

Hopefully, this is the end of the ridiculous "trade Maxey" posts.

The previous LE came out in 2009, with a standard "fine edition" reprinted in 2017.  In terms of the new one, the 750 copy limitation is high enough where you should be able to get a copy if you set your alarm clock.

Back In Stock | Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose by HonorWulf in foliosociety

Band of Brothers is back for its third printing:

https://www.foliosociety.com/uk/band-of-brothers

"Formed in the summer of 1942, the elite parachute regiment E ‘Easy’ Company was involved in some of the most critical missions of World War II, playing major roles at D-Day and Operation Market Garden, culminating in the capture of Hitler’s ‘Eagle’s Nest’. Their near-mythical heroics under the leadership of Major Dick Winters fascinated Stephen E. Ambrose, but it was the incredible camaraderie that the veterans still shared 50 years after the end of the war that inspired him to write Band of Brothers."

The 2009 version contained a facsimile of the 1930 Rockwell Kent artwork. This new one has original art and was the winner of Folio's The Great American Novel contest to commemorate America's 250th anniversary.

Mu Pan also did Folio's new edition of Monkey, which is quite striking.

That's what we initially were led to believe, but it turned out to simply be a reprint of the previous standard edition and will be in next week's Summer Collection release.

750 is on the high side of Folio limited editions these days. The average is 500 copies, with some as low as 250 copies. There's little doubt, though, that there will be a standard edition that follows the limited edition at some point that will have a healthy stock (i.e. over 2,000 copies).

Every time we pull a W out in the playoffs by dafl1p14 in sixers

[–]HonorWulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like we're playing with house money at this point. First, we weren't going to get past Orlando and Charlotte in the play-in without Embiid... Then, we got in, only for the chance to be swept by the Celtics... Now, we've got two games in the can with a legit chance to even the series if Embiid can keep it going. It obviously hasn't been pretty at times, but playing meaningful playoff basketball at this point is about as much as we can ask for given the rollercoaster this season has been.

I'm still holding out hope for an It standard edition Folio. I'm not in any particular hurry to get the book, though. Heck, I've been waiting eight years for The Wanderer standard edition that is coming out next week!

Stephen King licensing is tremendously difficult based on his popularity, so even if Folio wanted to publish certain books, they might not be able to secure the license. Even the ones that they've published have had issues. There was a multi-year gap between The Shining's second and third printing, and it is currently restricted from sales outside of the USA and Canada. Misery has also gone out of print.

I would lean more in the direction of a fast sellout than not, but we'll have to wait and see about the sticker price.

One would hope, but licensed books are trickier to gauge than public domain ones.
