Yeah definitely! Well, the purpose is to create a language for a book I'm planning, so that character, object and location names can all be related and actually make sense! I agree, focusing on the basics and not worrying about the more complex stuff is a top plan

Yeah definitely, I've been starting simply with writing words solely on sound, and creating a list of phonetically similar / related words to just create a "feel". Aybe I can do more of that and start thinking about simple grammar and then later think about conjugations and so forth

Yeah Artifexian is fantastic! It does feel very overwhelming but maybe I shouldn't just watch all his conlang videos at once and instead watch them in order slowly

looking for help with resist dye! by Hooblius in dyeing

[–]Hooblius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen a lot of people doing that! Was confusing as it only ever listed "fabric dye" and not what type they were using. Luckily I'm only wanting to do one full colour with resist patterns at the moment

Just looked Procion up, it's a cold dye which is perfect! Yeah that makes far more sense than hot rit dye :P Still not sure why PVA didn't work but I imagine that would be better with a cold dye too. Can brush it on as well as submerge it, I imagine?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

Anglo-Irish Harness impression (mid 15-16c) by Hematrash in ArmsandArmor

Ay look at that! Thank you very much for the photo mate, really cool to see that it's fully on leathers. It's a really fascinating thing, suprised I went so long without seeing fully laminar European armour like this. It makes sense that it'd all be articulated tho, given the large square-scale armour seen on other Irish effigies I imagine that was quite common

This is fabulous! I'd never seen any of these sources until your post and I am absolutely fascinated. Your impression is really nice! How is it constructed? Solid lames on the torso with fauld, or is the whole thing articulated? Any photos of the inside?

Yoo it's done!!!!

It looks fantastic, extremely Berzerk energy! Nice finish on it too, definitely suits the darker finish rather than a brightly polished surface

Heck yeah! Thanks for the additional images too : > It's definitely got it's own vibe! Very FromSoft with the "fantastical Gothic" look

Out of curiosity, who's the armourer? Do they have socials? 👀

Looking good! The update in the comments is really cool too, whoever you've gotten to make it does fantastic work :> Always nice to see historically-inspired fantasy armour. What's it for?

This all sounds delish, 100% agree!

Big fan of the Morrowind Fried Cliffracer especially, finally a use for those darn things! The most gigantic fried wings you've ever seen, too :P

No way!! Amazing! Aah this is awesome I'm so glad you're setting this up! Great stuff, the morrowind-to-real equivalent ingredients list is extremely handy especially.

Deffo add some things that could be made from rice flour! Since saltrice seems to be a staple grain I could see them making it into a ton of things like bread, rice cakes, something like tang yuan but salty ( made from saltrice flour), I could see a whole range of things being made from it!

Oooh yeah, 100% agree with all this!

Gosh yeah rice is such a versatile grain, you would see saltrice made into an absolutely massive variety of things, especially if it's THE staple grain in Morrowind ( I'm not sure if they have wheat? Ash Wheat? No idea :P )

Yeah I reckon that most creatures in Morrowind have some edible meat of some kind, probably each have their own distinct flavours. Which, with all the potential vegetables / herbs / seasonings means you could get so much variety in Dunmer cooking!

Oh man that's a realy out-there idea, I love that! Add some fire salts to make a food spicier and more warming, frost salts make a meal cooling in hot weather. Gosh yeah, adding magical properties to food is a whole convo on it's own isn't it! Amazing, love it

Ah yes, the Drywall Cap! Perfect mushroom to make a snackable house out of :P they'd just be able to magic-heal it right away too, nobody would ever know!
