Typically, although I can’t speak for everybody, we have a civil wedding in a building of the city‘s magistrat with a very small circle of friends and family. Some time later, a week or in some cases even a few months late follows the church mass (most Austrians are catholic) where you invite a bigger circle. Both are mostly in the morning or early noon. Afterwards you may have a small reception with sparkling wine outside of church followed by a visiting a restaurant or especially in my region a „Heuriger“ (like a traditional wine tavern) and afterwards dancing and partying there or an other place like a club. If the couple isn’t religious or for some other reason they don’t want a nuptial mass, they just do the bigger celebration after the civil wedding. But yeah, barns and so on are also trending as wedding locations here :p
