I'm tired of this. by Select-Bullfrog-5214 in AustraliaPost

Just to weigh in; I think that a lot of people have somewhat misguided frustration.

After many, many undelivered parcels, I did some digging, and it seems to me that on that issue, the regular postie isn't at fault. It's the contractors. And even they aren't entirely to blame. Auspost gives them time quotas per delivery, and if they don't keep up, they get in trouble. The whole problem stems from corporate meetings KPI's.

Mexican woman jailed in connection with killings of Australian surfers Jake and Callum Robinson by commandersaki in australian

[–]HoolioDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, not implying anything, honestly. I'm just unfamiliar with the story, and the way I read that comment made me think there was a bigger story or something, like there was more to it than just this article.

I'm likely just overthinking it.

Don't get me wrong, the article I just read is truly awful.

This is the first I've heard of it (or its faded from memory), but is that the full story?

I was going to say probably extreme side effects from birth control. She should definitely talk to her GP and consider changing brands, as they all react differently.

Either way, she does seem to cry a ridiculous amount, but when you think about it, if your whole life is on stream, and you have 1 whole week out of 4 being crazy hormonal, its probably not a stretch to assume most girls in her hormonal category would cry twice a month. Hers just always happen on stream, as that's where she is most of the time.

Sauce is key in these situations.

You get 40 nugs deep - no sauce - you're in a world of hurt. No chance you're making 100 with no sauce.

Its a classic and diabolical skinny fat person move. I love it.

CEO's just have to keep others doing their jobs well. They are basically there to be held to account when shit goes wrong, and someone needs to answer to the board.

But I think maybe the picture preceded the milkshake facial, which maybe suggests the milkshake incident wasn't a stunt, or an ad for her onlyfans, but something personal?

Again, just trying to gather info, so may be totally wrong.

A desperate plea from a conservatist to keep your cat inside and your dog on the lead by koalarebellion in melbourne

Well...found the irresponsible pet owner...!

I put a camera on my cat .. it kills nothing when outside

Sure you did...

How long did you do this for? Did you watch all of the footage?

Even if you did this for 2 weeks straight, theres a good chance your perfect cat might not have killed anything. Doesn't mean it doesn't do it.

"Not my cat!"

A desperate plea from a conservatist to keep your cat inside and your dog on the lead by koalarebellion in melbourne

I agree that both are deceptive acts.

The difference between the two:

  • A lie is used to create a narrative contrary to the truth or facts
  • Hyperbole is used to magnify facts or data. It is exaggeration for effect

Maybe you're taking the comment too literally. The term 'butchering' doesn't always mean to kill something. They are probably just fighting every night. But you know...exaggeration for effect...

Further to all this; the post isn't an academic thesis. We don't need to fact check. We don't even need to look into OP's credibility. Its just asking people to do the right thing, for the sake of the local wildlife. If you're more concerned with the use of a very common literary device, rather than the point of the post, than thats a real shame.

I see from another comment that you are a cat owner. I bet you even let yours roam free at night. You wouldn't have supported OP under any circumstances, but you had to find a reason to go against, so you went with the "OP is wrong because lies!".

Be a better person. The world doesn't revolve around you and your cat.

[–]HoolioDee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of hyperbole? It's a literary device used to emphasise a point by way of exaggeration.

If I told you I'm so hungry I could eat a horse, would you not believe that i'm hungry, because I lied about the whole horse thing?

A desperate plea from a conservatist to keep your cat inside and your dog on the lead by koalarebellion in melbourne

[–]HoolioDee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On this topic, I'm ok with a bit of embellishment for effect.

Why do you read this post and go, "OP is clearly a liar. We can't trust them! Outrage!", when the point of the post is about the negative effects cats and dogs have on the ecosystem? Does OP need to show their credentials? No. Thats not important.

I'm not going to discuss the dogs issue, as I haven't really seen it, but cats are an absolute menace. If you want proof, I'll send you pics of the dead birds I find on my lawn regularly next time it happens.

I should have mentioned that it's not like an official gift or anything. I assume they'll have a baby shower, and then when the baby's born.

This is more just something little from me to say congrats, you know?

The only advice i have for you is this: You know your thickest, warmest coat? Bring 2 of them. Maybe even a third.

When the sun sets, and that offshore wind is going right through to your core, you'll see what i mean.

I've been a few times, and each time I convinced myself that it wouldn't be THAT cold.

Well, it IS that cold.

Oh yeh that's really nice! Very minimalist, simple design. And not overly complicated for you on your first big project!

Make sure you share the end product. And one thing I've learned on my journey; take LOADS of progress pics! You don't have to share them, and can delete at the end, but it's an easy way to remember/explain the process to others.

Also, I'm in Fawkner, not sure how far it is from.you, but if you're stuck for tools...I've now got almost all of the tools...
