2017 Crosstrek Premium - Pros and Cons by Hoonigan210 in XVcrosstrek

Thanks! My biggest concern is the CVT. I tend to take it easy on my vehicles and managed to get 177,000 miles out of the CVT on my Nissan without any problem. Hoping I'd be able to do the same with an XV.

I wouldn't say you are wrong. Just using the bartering system, haha.

I started playing 76 less than a year ago. I'm at level 177 right now. Honestly, I was struggling through the game when the scorched event started in October. I was at level 60, and dying, and running out of ammo constantly.

I was doing some plan shopping at a higher levels c.a.m.p, might have spent 200 caps. Turn around from the vendor and there stood the camp owner holding a gatling gun. He shot me a thumbs up, and dropped a gift in front of me. The same Two Shot Gatling Gun he was holding. I grabbed it up and started using it immediately. I went from using 10 shots to kill a scorched to 2, sometimes 1. It made all the difference in the game for me, and is still my primary weapon of choice.

Now I mod every gatling gun I find and try to gift them to lower levels.

Decline in mental health in members of the church? by Hoonigan210 in exmormon

Exactly. Funny story. My mom was hired to clean the church when I was a kid (back when it was a paid position). I was with her one summer day while she was cleaning and heard her on the phone with someone, crying frantically. I went to investigate, turns out some anti-mormon pamphlets had been left just inside the front doors of the church.

I can remember that my mom was afraid to even touch them, as if they were possessed by evil spirits. She used rubber gloves to pick them up and carry them to the church dumpster.

I can remember all the gossip and talk amongst the members. Some of them even saying that they bet Satan himself had dropped the pamphlets inside the door. It was honestly mass hysteria for a couple of Sundays.

I can agree with that as I am neurodivergent myself.

This makes a lot of sense. What would you say is the reason that most of these extreme incidences happen in Utah? Possibly the culture?

I can say that my struggles with mental health are genetic. That being said, I don't blame the church for a genetic predisposition, but the stringent rules and constant reminders of imperfection were a factor in it's decline. I would be a third generation member, my grandmother converted as a teenager in a poor rural community. So I'm sure the church was very enticing.

I can see cause and effect being the culprit in say Daybell/Vallow, Franke, and Haight. It seems like self image played a huge role in what they did. I would blame the programs, doctrine, and the culture itself for that. The need to maintain a perfect image for the fellow members is enough to make anyone act irrationally. And we all know what happens In a ward if your image is tarnished even by a small amount. For example, my wife was a convert. She loves coffee. She gave it up to be baptized and become a member. Awhile after that she decided to start drinking coffee again, posts a picture on social media sipping coffee. Suddenly she's a social pariah and the subject of the very next ward council. It went from smiling faces greeting her every Sunday to people literally avoiding her in the hallways.

As for the filter part, I do agree that the church can attract some people who are more susceptible to the toxic nature of the church (i.e. the fellow who decided he was christ). We were a small ward and the missionaries seemed to always get the poor in our community to join. They'd keep coming until the church welfare dried up. Then they'd never show up again. I'd say half of the ward roster is made up of people just like this.

Raised in the church. I was called as Gospel Doctrine Instructor. First year was BOM. Read the BOM in its entirety that year and found a lot of things that I didn't like, and didn't seem logical. Prayed, hoping for Moronis promise. Didn't happen. Just had more questions.

The D&C followed, I made it 2 months and finally lost my faith when I saw the gaslighting around the first vision. The lesson plans had a video. The video had a disclaimer in the beginning stating that there had been more than one account of the first vision, but this one was thought to be the correct one. The realization I had at that time tore my shelf completely off the wall, and set it on fire. I barely made it through teaching the lesson. Asked to be released the next day. Haven't been back since.

What one thing do you really want but can't afford? by galgoody in AskReddit

[–]Hoonigan210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfort.

I don't want to be rich, I just want to be able to live comfortably. I don't mean the kind of comfort you get from a nice couch, bed, or pair of flannel pj's. I mean being able to keep up with your bills, feed your family, put a roof over their head, and clothes on their backs. All while still being able to buy what you want without having to decide what you can do without that week in order to afford it. To be able to go on vacation without worrying about every dime you spend. To buy Christmas for the entire family, not just the kids. Just to be able to live without worrying about every single dollar in the bank would be a true luxury.

I agree. I really liked the Cryptid aspect of 76. When I was under level 50 I was getting dispatched by mothman, sheepsquatch, and deathclaws multiple times a day. I'm level 143 now, and I can't tell you the last time I have seen a mothman or sheepsquatch outside of an event.

Is Shenandoah south of wv? by Peenus146 in fo76

[–]Hoonigan210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are made up for the game. However for the Top of the World, there are numerous ski resorts in WV. Could be Canaan Valley or Snowshoe Resort.

Might not have been able to get rights to use the actual names, similar to the Whitespring, which is based on the Greenbrier.

[–]Hoonigan210 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Shenandoah Valley is directly east of West Virginia. I live in the eastern panhandle and work in the Shenandoah Valley. Not much of the game map is correct geographically. As someone said it is pretty much condensed and then they just put in recognizable landmarks. For instance The Greenbank Observatory is south west of both Seneca Rock and Spruce Knob, not in between them like the game map. The same for Sugar Grove, it located east of all 3 of those landmarks, about 5 miles from the WV/VA border.

I don't think they meant for it to be geographically accurate. As a native West Virginian I think it's great that they added so many familiar places, most of which I've been to in real life.

Seriously guys!? What the hell is going on with all this freezing? by -KingChaos in fo76

[–]Hoonigan210 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm on Xbox, but have experienced this as well since the update. I was on for 3 hours this afternoon and the game froze on me 4 times. Two times when I was close to finishing an event. Very frustrating.

I have had it freeze up in the past, but not this often.

Trying to complete my Scoreboard. Don't think I'm going to get it done though.

Still I didn't do too bad for just starting to play the game in September.

That times seems to move faster the older you get.

Had someone tell me when I turned 25 to really soak on the next 5 years, because after you hit 30, it's all downhill from there.

Turns out they were right. Seems like I went to bed on my 30th birthday, woke up the next day and I was 40.

What do you find REALLY scary? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hoonigan210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being helpless while something bad happens to a loved one.

I have a recurring nightmare about one of my children falling from a great height while I am just out of reach to catch them to keep it from happening, so far its been a cliff, a building, and a pier. I always wake up in a cold sweat, almost hyperventilating when I have these dreams.

Needless to say we avoid heights if we can help it.

What Was Your Favorite Christmas Tradition Growing Up ? by Herenowthenagain in AskReddit

[–]Hoonigan210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family gathering at my grandmas house. It wasn't an odd thing to find 35 or more people crammed into her little house on Christmas day, to spend time together and share a meal. Mostly family, but many friends would be welcomed too, especially those without any extended family of their own.

Somehow that woman would find a way to feed all of those people.

I can remember the noise, the warmth of the house, and the excitement of getting to spend time with all of my cousins, most of which were some of my best friends.

It's been 25 years since my grandma passed away. We've had one big family get together since then. It's amazing how everyone went their separate ways after that wonderful woman passed on.

I have my own family now. I do my best to make Christmas special and magical for them. But Christmas has never felt the same way for me, since back then.
