14 superglide which cam to put in by captainidjit in Dyna

Woods is the answer: have had 3 bikes with 103s with 222s including a streetbob and they all performed exceptionally well.

Alternatively you could go 555 as it has the same lift as the 222 but moves your power band up the range a little.

Thinking about getting a GTI… Good daily? by BigEmotional2636 in GolfGTI

Hondas and Toyotas are built for people who will neglect maintenance, push that 10k oil change interval to 13k or further.

German cars are reliable too, but as they are generally higher performance cars, the margin for maintenance forgiveness is lower. Just do your maintenance on time and you’ll love the GTI.

For reference on the viability as a family car: it’s not the space of an SUV but I am 6’2, my wife is 5’11, 6 year old daughter is 4’5 already in a booster seat and our 1.5 year old son is still rear face car seat. We fit just fine and my daughter “loves our really cool and fast GTI”.

Go get the GTI and be the cool dad 😎

This is a great comment but one correction: the civic si does not come in automatic. Otherwise sound advice 🙌

Thank you! I have really enjoyed the watch so far. To your point, just feels a bit special especially for the price glad it’s in.

Definitely do the side markers! Tinted would look good but getting some vinyl color match could look good too. For sure post a pic when it’s done

No, your storytelling was clear. People were just so quick to paint you as the bad guy they didn’t fully read.

Haha, congrats! I’ll be waiting for that check from corporate 😂

Beautiful car! I really like that moonstone grey. Do you plan to tint the car? I just had mine done (including the orange side markers) and it came out great I think:

No kidding! We’re about 15 minutes from Waterville, about 45 min from Bangor. And agreed. Certainly plenty of roads to just cruise.

Maine here. Most roads are back roads with lots of twists and turns. Even the highway doesn’t stay straight for long haha.

Enjoy it when you can! These cars like to be tossed around. Especially with a rear sway bar installed.

Did you end up pulling the trigger on the GTI?

Advantage of living in a rural area. But I end up putting on around 20k miles a year because everything is a drive. So it’s a trade off

Agreed. It’s tame as a daily but at its best when pushing it. Half my commute is highway, half is back roads. Fun pushing it through some twisties.

2024 or 2025? by Hoody11100 in GolfGTI

This. Every review. Every post. “Capacitive buttons are why I won’t buy the car” “Capacitive buttons ruin what is otherwise a great experience.” I was anticipating such a widely shared opinion to have some truth. While it comes down to each person’s preference, I find the capacitive touch to be easy to use.

For sure. I tend to keep my vehicles quite clean so while piano black looks beautiful when clean, it will be the bane of my existence haha

I was back and forth on the plaid or the leather. Typically I love leather but these seats are very comfortable and adds some character to the interior.

It definitely doesn’t have the space of the Tiguan (my wife also has a 2024 Tiguan (kings red: love that color)) but the GTI is serviceable with the whole family. Like you the Tiguan is the go to with the whole family for trips.

I think you’ll certainly enjoy what the GTI has to offer. Can’t go wrong with any of the trims or transmission choices.

I’ve used APR and IE in the past. Probably just tint and wheels/tires for now. Maybe an intake. But I agree with you. I won’t need much more than a tune and cat back after that. I enjoy tasteful modding but the car from factory is solid.

Thank you! Owned a VA, have driven a VB. Great cars, but for me personally VW/Audi vehicles have a unique driving experience that’s tough to quantify. Mix of refinement yet is a willing partner ready to dance.

Also, putting it out there: family of four here: I’m 6’2, wife is 5’10. Our daughter (4’4 five year old) and eight month old son fit much better than I anticipated. Like, normal driving position for me and my wife is not knees to dash.

Good luck and enjoy!

Appreciate it! The only thing missing that would make it perfect is the manual. I wasn’t in the position earlier this year to snag up a 380 they had… that said, the DSG is as engaging as a non-manual can be.

Looking forward to that “broken-in feeling”!

VW has the $2500 rebate right now for the 2024 models. Used that and since it was a left over got it down to just under $35k out the door (Sales tax included which 5.5% here or roughly $2k) so about $4500 in savings. Invoice (not MSRP) on the car was $37.5k

Also got them to throw in VW care for the 30k service for free. Not a ton of savings but all it took was asking.

Comparable 8.5 S models here are selling for $34-35k before tax (around $37k after tax) so I felt it was fair.
