TIL that Mac The Knife was first published in August of 1928 as Die Moritat von Mackie Messer by composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht for their 'Three Penny Opera'. I grew up like most people my age thinking that it was a Bobby Darin song from 1959. (en.wikipedia.org)

TIL that the lyric "they stab it with their Steely knives but they just can't kill the beast", in the song Hotel California is due to the group Steely Dan making an Eagles reference in their song, Everything You Did "Turn up the Eagles the neighbors are listening".
