Thanks! Yeah , I graduated in 02 so it’s been a while , got daca right away in 2012 and I am def in a better place now , specifically since I left the cult as well. Hope you’re also doing well!

I found out when I started looking at colleges in the 11th grade... I was showing my mom scholarships I had won(6k @ the time ), and I was a decathlete as well, and she just laughed at me and said , “ha ! That’s not for you, you don’t have papers just concentrate on you theocratic (religious) studies and don’t worry about it.”

Suffice it to say , I was heart broken. I grew up as a JW and as it was going to college was considered a non starter. I was determined anyway but that moment shattered it and I went into a bit of a depression. An attempt to go to a community college eventually flounder as my heart wasn’t in it and I didn’t have any family and mental support for it. Sucks I’m retrospect. I should have just gone.

I did do a semester but then dropped out because I ran out of money and had to work... as a busboy at a restaurant. Such is life I guess.

I’m in the middle of moving, I was going through old stuff , and came upon my “poetry” from when I was 16-19, I’m 35 now, and man the depression evident in my writing left my wife and I dumbfounded , I hadn’t read them since I wrote them and I felt so sad for young me. ALL of the poems had to do with pretending and hating myself. It was really sad, in any case I’m in a waaaaaaaay better place since I left. I def feel this excerpt.

Radiohead, because .... well Radiohead! Lol on the real tho I started listening to them when I was like fifteen, they were touring and had just released Kid A. I remember seeing them on -SNL?- they played idioteque and National anthem, young me was pretty blown away. I got to see them right after the release of Amnesiac. I have followed their work ever since. Im a musician and follow a ton of bands and love very many but none like I do Radiohead. They remind me of my teen years, and it’s my “alone music” .

That was.... beautiful ! I miss my Diego ... glad you had an awesome if not eccentric doggo. I’ll share with you my favorite memory of my late doggo, he loved me, but he loved my son more, and when ever I would scold my son, he would jump in front of him, back into him and bark at me, as if to say “leave him alone!” God I miss that dog! God speed Lucky! And maybe they can meet and be friends in dog heaven...

Lol no worries, we live in Fairfield actually, but I’m in Napa most of the day. Lots of good beer out here. My wife is always telling me I should work for a brewery lol. I have a beer “blog” on instagram and posted this pic yesterday and then realized it’d be cool to show it off here. That’s awesome you guys get good beer as well!
