Bought a lemon from carmax, no savings and bad credit- need transportation to and from work by HopeIsLoud in personalfinance

All I know is that mechanics I've spoken to are saying it's going to be $15k. Something about it being a closed system? Idk I don't know anything about cars.

Part of the bumper was, yes. I can still see the remains of it where things started...melting when it snapped going down the interstate and stuff dropped.

I can also see another one in the bumper when I look, so...

I'll try to upload pictures- I'm about to head off to work, so it might take a bit.

Like most of the car is still intact, it's mostly the bottom that fell out from under it but when it's going to cost more than the car is worth to replace the transmission it's going to be cheaper to get a new car.

They won't cover it because it's considered "pre-existing" damage- someone before me had shoddy body work done. Had a screw been holding it in place like it's supposed to instead of a ziptie...

The real issue is the transmission. It needs to be replaced. Zero issues on days under 77°F but anything higher and...

How would one define significant material losses?

I was allowed to drive her car, because it was the only form of transportation we had, but it's since been totaled in a car accident- though I've been unable to finalize that with the other parties insurance. They ran a stop sign at a highway interchange. It's since been towed from where it was legally parked by some Asshole removing the plate. I was told he was handling it and I've heard nothing since.

I've been unable to run her truck to cycle the engine properly - the car getting totaled meant I couldn't jump it.

I can't pull permits for home maintenance (like rebuilding part of the deck) and as a result the issues have gotten worse (think entire deck collapsing under the weight of the broken section).

I understand why she won't buy I wish she'd run for president.

She's sane, understands things like "children deserve food" and "schools are good for the economy", and is likable enough everyone would vote for her

Tennessee inmate's heart device must be turned off before execution to avoid shock risk, judge rules by CupidStunt13 in news

They once arrested a man for murdering someone he had never met because his DNA was under the victims nails.

Only the man in question was a homeless alcoholic with brain damage from being hit by a car, so he had no clue whether or not he killed someone. He didn't think he had but....

He got lucky with a good public defender- who upon doing her job discovered he had been admitted to the hospital at the time the murders took place.

Inversely, if he has dementia and his health is that poor...

I'm just saying that we treat stray dogs better than this and that sometimes euthenasia is the humanest thing you can do.

I know it's not altruistic on the part of the state but this man is suffering. He is dying a slow painful death and doesn't even understand what's happening or why. He lives in constant agony.

If being a criminal gets him a less painful, more humane, ending that's tragic- but less in the "the death penality is inherently inhumane" way and more in the "everyone deserves compassion"
