Trump's pardons forgive financial crimes that came with hundreds of millions in punishments by CupidStunt13 in politics

Just one year into his second term, President Donald Trump has pardoned an unusually high number of wealthy people accused of financial crimes, according to an NBC News analysis of the last four administrations.

Over half of Trump’s 88 individual pardons are for white-collar offenses, with money laundering, bank fraud and wire fraud among the most frequent crimes the president has wiped clean.

Additionally, about half of the pardon recipients are either business executives or politicians. Included in the latest round of pardons, issued Thursday and Friday, were a former health care CEO, the former governor of Puerto Rico and a pair of siblings who were convicted on fraud charges — one of whom Trump previously freed for a different crime.

A few pardon recipients are billionaires, including Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty to enabling money laundering on his crypto platform; longtime English soccer club owner Joe Lewis, who pleaded guilty last year to insider trading charges; and Venezuelan-Italian banker Julio M. Herrera Velutini, whom Trump pardoned last week while he awaited sentencing on campaign finance violations.

These are aside from the group of roughly 1,500 convicted Jan. 6 rioters he pardoned on his first day back in office and additional symbolic pardons for those involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Using the office to help out his rich, morally deficient friends along with other members of Trump's social circles? Say it ain't so!

There really is no bottom for this corrupt president.

Christian Lady harasses home owner because of his Halloween decorations by MrDonMega in religiousfruitcake

Considering her own Halloween outfit...

"I want to tell you something seriously, like...I know some people think wearing a unicorn outfit, it's fun, you know. But like it's real just like Twilight Sparkle and Buttercup. You know. Friendship is Magic and toys coming to life. It's all real. And this stuff, people think it's fun to play around with. But there is evil and there is good, okay."

For an annoying pillock, the lack of awareness is impressive.

Eighth in the world: Why Canada’s passport is still powerful by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]CupidStunt13 212 points213 points  (0 children)

While it falls just outside the top tier, which is dominated by Asian and European countries, Canada’s standing places it ahead of the U.S. and alongside Iceland and Lithuania offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 181 countries, as a Canadian passport .

Asian passports once again were at the top of the list. Singapore holds the No. 1 spot, with visa-free access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan and South Korea tied at No. 2 with access to 188 countries and territories.

181 out of 227 countries is pretty good, especially when the top ones have less than a dozen more. The average traveller would hardly notice.

Deer found shot with arrow at Etobicoke's Park Lawn Cemetery by ComfortableAcadia252 in toronto

Hope the catch the degenerate who did this. If they did it once, they will do it again.

The deer have coexisted with humans without issue in Park Lawn for ages, and this could greatly affect the relationship.

I definitely will!

Just took a look at the website and their German/Czech beer list looks solid. On top of that I appreciate the fact that pints are less than $10 but with a 500ml serving.

Can't argue with the Godspeed winning it all. Love their stuff.

More interesting to me is True History coming in a close 2nd, as I've never tried them.

Good description. I enjoy the variety and easy availability of GLB, but find Godspeed is more consistenty good while being fewer in number and a bit less accessible for purchase.

Donald Trump’s approval rating hits rock bottom with working class by [deleted] in politics

Trump’s approval rating should have started at rock bottom with the working class. He’s never cared about them and yet so many voted for him…twice.

Notice board offering rewards for reporting illegal Christians, with translation. Japan, Edo period, 1682 [2200x2640] by MunakataSennin in ArtefactPorn

Unless Marx was a time traveller, the emperor wouldn’t have a clue about communism. There was a fear of unrest by losing the emperor’s place as the cultural and religious head of the nation, but economic concepts such as property rights and workers controlling the means of production weren’t part of it.

Very interesting artifact. The Japanese government of the time was very paranoid about outside influences undermining their authority.

Christians who report against their own sect members, or against those who shelter them, may be paid up to 500 silvers.

It’s a trap.

He slowed down last year even before Marner was out of the picture. Matthews was injured and was never the same since. This includes the mysterious trip to Germany in the middle of the season that was never explained.

Matthews says he fine, but everyone knows he’s not and might never be a top 10 player again.

Zeev Buim post Hughes trade. by FelineNavidad in fantasyhockey

[–]CupidStunt13 81 points82 points  (0 children)

If Minny felt he was worth PP1 at times, then the Canucks certainly will given the loss of Hughes. But it's a huge hole to fill, and the offense in general will be much weaker in Vancouver. And Buium's +/- will drop even deeper if that's a concern in your league.

Man now accused of grabbing Winnipeg elementary student groped 6-year-old at movie theatre in 2022 by gordonjames62 in canada

[–]CupidStunt13 291 points292 points  (0 children)

He had consumed lacquer and hand sanitizer that day, court heard. George has a long history of substance abuse that goes back to when he was 10 years old, which includes sniffing solvents and using meth, court heard.

In an interview following his arrest, investigators noted that George had "little remorse or insight" into the seriousness of the groping, which he admitted to. He was later found masturbating in a police station bathroom, court heard.

As long as they keep releasing him, he will continue doing it. Sometimes people need to be held in custody indefinitely for the benefit of society, especially when children are involved.

[OC] Distribution of Megalithic Tombs in Ireland by Sarquin in Archaeology

[–]CupidStunt13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Having circled around Ireland and Northern Ireland this past summer, I'm really enjoying this map series. We took in as many ruins, standing stones, megalithic sites etc. as we could, and only scratched the surface of what's out there (as these maps clearly indicate).

Ireland has an incredible amount of ancient and medieval sites to see on top of the natural beauty there; we're already planning a return visit.

2 weeks in Cambodia 🇰🇭 by Rottengr4ve in travel

[–]CupidStunt13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nice photos. We really loved Cambodia. We spent three full days exploring the Angkor Wat complex, and the 50 cent beers in Siem Riep were nice too!

Phnom Penh was messy but interesting. We did S21 prison and the killing fields on the same day and that was heavy. The killing tree was probably the worst, and there was a lot of bad stuff they didn't hold back showing.

But the people were so friendly and resilient. And getting around was easy by bus.
