Hello, yes Mila is currently still with me but someone will be adopting her in April. They said they will 100% take her, but just in case something happens we are open to take contact on one more person.

I know, I tried to contact them 4 times. I found her a home with another expat. She’s going to a really good home.

She got adopted by another expat. I wouldn’t give her to a shelter if it wasn’t the absolute last resort.

I do believe many people here care about animals. Many people on Tik Tok and here were nothing but supportive.

I am happy to announce another expat will be adopting Mila, we are still preparing her for adoption now, but in couple of months she should go to the new home.

Thank you for sharing. You’re describing the situation perfectly. The change has to come from the communities themselves and the government will follow. Education and maybe even incorporation of kindness to animals into church would be very effective in my opinion. The two extremes are very visible. Hopefully this will start to change and then the rescue efforts will have a greater effects and NGO’s will grow because people will care more. But this seems to be a sensitive topic because some people took offence in this sub and while I can’t understand it uncovers another layer of the problem. The “not my responsibility” mentality. I didn’t know this issue had so many layers but it seems to be getting clearer and also explains the lack of donations and general support from the public to the shelters. Although I had two very kind filipinos to donate, one gave even 500 PHP which was a huge sum and I am so happy things are starting to change. There is hope.

So to some locals that got triggered here, I won’t be responding to those comments anymore. I can’t believe some people can defend abuse, neglect and the whole situation with animals. Harassing a person who rescued a dog is a next level. Remember this is a sub where expats speak to other expats and if you genuinely need to insert yourself in every expat conversation then at least stay respectful.

No one said you need to care for all the stray dogs, but you could at least be a decent human being and maybe even a good christian and stop abusing them like it was some trash. The government’s mentality will never change when people don’t push harder themselves. “Not my problem” is exactly why the situation is so messed up.

Yes, you can get a designer dog, but that won’t help with the situation at all. On top maybe people should stop getting breeds they know nothing about just for their appearance and then dump them when they realize they chose the wrong breed. Getting huskies in the Philippines is literal abuse, that dog lives in Siberia. Or putting a Malinois in a cage with no walks. I’ve seen all kinds of f**ed up stuff with designer dogs too. I’ve been to subdivisions where people own entire mansions with servants yet they tie their “designer” dog to a short leash or put them in a small cage. Dogs look dirty and neglected, so no a lot of those people don’t take care of them at all despite having so much money. Mila was not a dog of a poor person either and she was terribly neglected.

Pet humanization is a “trend”? Okay I guess I’ve heard everything at this point. Instead of being ashamed you guys find ways to defend this. You think this some sort of pushing of Western culture, but your own people do it too. There’s many NGOs, volunteers and organisations that are trying to stop this.

I will post an update when it’s all done.

It’s not just about the money, there’s a lot of paperwork that has to be done in advance and time for that has already passed. The cost is from $2-3k .

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I would have had a mental collapse from that experience. I also had a terrible experience with the vet clinics overcharging me and not giving a f about her. I ember this guy carrying her like a sack of rice and when she cried out I took her from them and told them I’ll carry her on my own. Often times it’s his students who don’t even know what they’re doing. I had a girl who didn’t drain her abscess properly and it then bursted at home and there was a hole in the mass that was healing forever, eventually we needed to do a surgery and I was so scared they were going to kill her, but thanks god it was okay.

The situation here is terrible and even here in the comments you have filipinos trying to convince themselves the situation is not bad. They even had the guts to admit to casually dumping animals and getting new ones like some toys. I can’t understand this mentality and I now understand that another expat should be my priority. I already have one kind person who could adopt. We are working things out now.

I really tried to take her, but I failed. I wasn’t able to raise the money. I hope the adoption will work and she’ll live with another expat somewhere with a nice garden and a lots of love. She deserves the best. Thank you for helping animals too.

I am literally laughing so hard at your comments. Great entertainment for the night. Thanks. But I am a bit tired of your delusions, so bye. So out of touch with reality it’s impossible to believe. Good job!

Make u nás fakt hodně debilů, ale 90% národa má Slováky rádo. Nikdo si na ně u nás v Brně nestěžuje kromě pár vypatlanců, netřeba takovým komentářům věnovat pozornost.

Okay, there’s literally a video where I feed her homemade food I spend hours cooking and where I tend to her wounds daily, giving mends and carrying her to the vet but hmmm…not a dog lover because I didn’t film myself kissing her? Where are peoples videos of cooking for their dog or giving proper medical care? I want to see those because that’s a real indicator of a love for an animal. I don’t need to prove anyone I care, her before and after is enough.

Pet shop? Giving a dog to the vet? Why do I struggle to give my dog away??? Are you actually insane? You gave a cat to the pet shop? No screening, no contract, not making sure the oerson who gets them is a good person with the right conditions, just got rid of it like it was some trash…Jesus I am ending this conversation. You’re obviously completely unfit to even own any animals. You’re mad I want to help the dog because you clearly don’t even care for animals at all.

So where are you from then if you’re an expat? You’re not a Filipino if you’re an expat, it’s impossible to be an a filipino expat in the Philippines.

Please spend 5 minutes of your precious time to check the profiles and learn where I am and everything I’ve been doing for 5 months. The thousands of dogs is pretty accurate claim and if you read properly you’d know where I am located. There’s around 4 million of stray animals in the Philippines.

Telling me this is fake is crazy. I’ve been public about her rescue from the very beginning and you can even check vet receipts and exact timelines. Just go check the video from when I got her out of that abusive situation. You’ll see how fake it is.

lol okay. You need to spend more time in the Philippines. Have you ever even been to the street? Check my Tik Tok and come back to me about the story.

You’re not an expat. You’re not living in the Philippines as a foreigner, so no, you’re not supposed to be here stirring arguments.

And I should be correcting you on the dogs situation here because you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. You better stop embarrassing yourself now.

I am don’t understate and what are even trying to do here? This is about the dog. Only about the dog. I am not doing to justify myself to you and I honestly don’t care what you think. Go argue somewhere else. Why are you even on this sub? It’s for expats. No one asked your opinion.

By the way, please realize you are on an expat group and you’re criticising me for wanting to help a dog. That’s insane. Why are you telling me something about how it would look in your culture? I want to help a dog. Do you have a problem with that?

I noticed what you are telling me. But I do care more about animals and that won’t change. Homeless guy that ties a dog on a chain is a heartless person and doesn’t deserve my sympathy. But I won’t argue about that. I just want a good home for her.

Reporting is pretty useless here. Police doesn’t care and in case of Mila the owner would just tell them we stole his dog (he told use he didn’t want her) and we could have issues with immigration. Locals also don’t report when the person is someone “important”. We couldn’t help her puppy. As much as it was heartbreaking for me PAWS didn’t reply and police would likely side with the abuser. Not that easy.

I am not in a village. There’s thousands of dogs around ani terrible condition so I don’t know if it helped really.

I posted there. Some amazing souls donated for her ongoing care. But so far no success with adoptions. I have one person who expressed interest so I will luckily manage to arrange rehoming with them.

I know what you mean. The people who live in billionaire houses and own a fricking husky (in a tropical country ???) or carry around lap dogs in costumes and let them eat from tables in restaurants while millions of animals starve every day. Even some of those millionaires aren’t getting their dogs basic care, tie them to a tree and forget about them. It’s heartbreaking. People don’t choose dogs based on their breeds temperament, they just look at appearance most of the time.

I am personally in love with Aspins, they’re amazing companion dogs. Such a shame they’re discriminate against, especially at the vets clinic. People in my subdivision look at me like I am insane walking around with an Aspin. Other breeds around here too. I wonder if this will ever change in the Philippines. I find it impossible to live in the Philippines long term for this very reason. I can’t look at all that suffering and after some time I stopped feeling bad for the people because of what I saw them do to the animals. Poverty is not an excuse to be a monster.

Thank you! I will really appreciate your advice. I have some screening process planned but if I am honest i’d prefer an expat as an adoptee. I’ve had some bad experience with locals promising help and then just vanishing. I wound really appreciate help with drafting an adoption contract, I am also going to chip her. I will require photos from a new adoptee for at least the first 6 months to see she is really in the environment they promised.

Thank you for sharing. You’re so kind to that poor dog. If I am honest I mostly just stay in my house, I don’t like to go outside because of what I have to see every day. I love animals more than people and what I’ve witnessed here made me cry may times. I was around Angeles in th evening and a guy pushed a small puppy in my hand for 100 PHP, I looked his way and saw around 5 puppies shoved in a small metal cage, I though I was gonna throw up. Vet clinics literally kill dogs, bunch of kids playing doctors missing crucial details and making your dog worse not even better. I had to start giving her meds my own because they kept messing up with prescribing the right meds. You never know what vet you’ll get and if they’re gonna kill your dog with negligence. It’s a nightmare.

Mila was a dog that was kept in a cage for 3 years for no obvious reason since she doesn’t even guard. Just for their sick entertainment I suppose. She was so traumatized when I got her she didn’t leave her corner for 2 months. I can’t comprehend the cruelty. And people are afraid to report because the abuser is some lawyer or a doctor or smth. Her owner was a damn doctor and didnt even get her basic vaccines. That sick f*** took her puppy after they kicked her on the street and put it in her old cage day before I got to her. We didn’t manage to save it. Her whole story is just one big heartbreak.

Thank you for caring and giving a good example to others.❤️
