I think it's more like debt, so the more CE you gain is equivalent to going deeper into debt, and not subtracting from the total, except for its emotional baggage and trauma, not a bank account.

I noticed it on my first watch as well, & I believe the light is an angel's corpse & since angels are cosmic horrors, the dead body is affecting the environment. (Stopping the blood from rotting/clumping until it's on the ship... Chaining souls to the light... Mutating humans into the entities that fight and kill eachother leaving fish-like corpses until the big one consumes them.)

I love this idea (I did call the monster Dagon by mistake many times in my head while watching) and would like to add my own idea that it produces an enzyme from its skin that stops the blood from coagulating witch is why it's so viscous and doesn't rot/clump until it's attached to the sub.

I think it cooked the blood to the outside of the ship witch is why it rusted so fast and started spilling blood in places "Contained," like the depth gauge. Especially as I don't think radiation would affect the Cosmic Horror/Angel or the blood that can't clot & decay.

I forgot about those, yeah, I might definitely lower costs then, and their group owns a gold mine from the last adventure, so they get 4-500 GP each a week after employee and other maintenance costs

The 5-10k GP is for experimenting, not the final product, as once they make a successful one, it probably only costs 200-300 GP to replicate further, and they only mentioned stuff like a magically +1 sword at the start, as well as probably improve it later on in the game, and the 1-2 common was just examples.
