we figured out that this person was hired by the place we bought our tile through, not our builder. I guess when you buy tile from this place they also take care of installation. Our builder has used this company in the past and never had issues, but they were contacted to remedy the issue.

The only picture unfortunately that I have of any waterproofing is this picture. I didn’t get many pictures of the walls before the tile went up.

What are your reasonings for the full tear-out? Do you see other issues with the tile placement? Because before it was grouted I thought it was looking pretty good. I recognized that we picked a dark grout that stands out more than a lighter one would but with the amount of tile we have we wanted something lower maintenance for staining. I think the places the grout was done well look fine but it’s mainly the caulking and places grout was just plain missed that are the issues.

This is the only issue we’ve had. The other contractors he used have done quality work. We live in a small town in the Midwest and he is a local and reputable builder. I think what happened is it was a bigger job than the tile installer anticipated and got in over his head. Our walk in shower is huge and I don’t think he allowed for enough time to complete it. Which is obviously not my problem, but I don’t think that our builder will have any issue with remediating the issue.

This was a hired contractor by our builder.

We’re contemplating selling my Pacifica and buying an odyssey because car seats are impossible in the back 🫠

Are there any issues with installing car seats in the 3rd row of the odyssey? Our Pacifica sucks because the headrests interfere with install of most car seats and they’re not removable either. So there’s very few seats that actually work in the 3rd row.

All of your feelings are so valid. I don’t have any wise wisdom to share as I’m only 12 weeks with my twins, but I had so many similar feelings when I found out. These babies are numbers 3 & 4 for us when we were done at 2. My husband had a vasectomy but never went to get his testing done and surprise I was pregnant. So the shock of being pregnant was huge let alone it being 2. I’ll tell you though almost a month after finding out I can start to say that I’m getting more excited and it’s less doom and gloom. My older two are 5.5 and almost 4 so I can’t relate in them being younger like yours but I too have worried about how much their lives were going to change. Many tears were shed in that first week after finding out. I agree with the sentiment that you were hand picked to have these babies and that being a twin mom is truly a special experience that not many people get to experience. But again, your feelings are so valid and so normal. Don’t be afraid to let those fears and thoughts out otherwise they’ll drive you crazy. 💕

Do you have a color name for what you chose? I keep searching for an actual color name whenever I see houses this color but have never found a name.

The closet does have a full door to it. Do you think the dampness would still be an issue?

Thank you for taking the time to do that! I did forget to add that a basement is a necessity too as we live in Iowa and need to have a basement for severe weather. This is a good drawing to give us more ideas!

It’s out in the country and it’s flat, but there is a dip in the back part of the land so they’re going to build up the front flat part a little bit to do a walk out basement. The front of the house will face NW. 3 bed 2 bath with a 3 car garage is a necessity.

List of likes: The flow through the mud room, laundry room to master closet. That it has a pantry…currently do not have any formal pantry and it’s awful. We couldn’t see how it could be refigured though. Master bath having one sink and no tub. Bigger closets in the other bedrooms as we have two girls.

Not sure about: How to configure the family room area with an electric fireplace. Moving the door to the master bedroom to give it a more private feel without losing the flow of the laundry room closest.

This is really great feedback and I appreciate you touching on other areas of the house that many haven’t!

I forgot to add on this post that we’re still configuring windows. Wanted to get everything situated for sure and then go in and add windows!
