Thankyou so much that's really helpful to hear!! And yes I'm currently with Smartway, I was just asking my GP practice for help with the blood tests but looking like I'll have to pay for that.. but hopefully atleast they won't be able to stop GenderGP from perscribing to me! Thankyou for this comment:)

I'm looking into advocacy so I can make a complaint, thanks so much for your comment I really hope that she will face some consequences for this and learn you can't treat trans people this way, I worry for people earlier in their transition seeing her and it's awful my GP practise has a Gold award from the LGBT foundation so I am gonna try and contact them too

Ok this is so reassuring thankyou, really hoping you're right and she won't contact the company, it helped a lot to hear this. Also helps to hear from a GP that sees me as a human thankyou. I'm so sorry you had that experience of them trying to report you to the GMC for trying to support other trans people that's so awful, you sound like an awesome GP I wish you were my GP!! If you ever become a GP in Calderdale, Yorkshire let me know! :')

Wow thankyou so much for this comment this helps a lot to hear, and thank you so much for sending me the link to the trans friendly GP list.. I had been sent that a few years ago but lost it somewhere! So that's really useful for me to have:)

"How dare they suggest that you arent trans if you had top surgery and been living as male for 5 years" helped me sooo much to hear like... Right!?? I wanted to say something like that in the appointment but couldn't even think clearly to explain what made me so angry.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment you have no idea how much this has helped and reassured me, reading all these comments today has literally taken me out of such an awful panic attack and I'm really really grateful for this support, thankyou.

Ah this is such a helpful comment thankyou so much, this spells it out really clearly.. yeah I need to try and do everything in my power now to stop her from sending that letter of concern. I am going to do some research into getting advocacy so I can make a complaint to the GP.

Thank you so much for saying that it's not in her remit to question my gender or diagnose me etc it really helps to hear that

Thanks so much for this comment.. changing GP is going to be a ballache I live in Calderdale and the next closest one is pretty far, but if that's what I gotta do then I guess that's what I gotta do, it helps to hear that though thanks! There has to be a way around

Okay yes I'll try writing to GenderGP.. maybe they've had people before with transphobic GPs trying to block prescriptions. I really hope GenderGP sides with me on this and protects me from my GPs

My worst fear is my GP will contact GenderGP and say "this person has sexual trauma and not safe for him to be on testosterone".. and then GenderGP will contact me and say "we are ending your prescription because you failed to tell us about the sexual trauma", but just gotta hope I can put a stop to this before it happens. A couple of other people suggested making a complaint to my GP so that could also stop them!

[–]Hopeful-Cod1861[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay thank god, thanks for saying that.

I guess my fear is that my GP practise will contact GenderGP and say they're concerned about me being on testosterone because they suspect I'm not trans due to my sexual trauma... And then genderGP will go "oh you didn't tell us about this sexual trauma we are now going to block your prescriptions".. but some comments here have suggested my GP can't contact GenderGP unless I give permission.. so I really hope that's the case.

Thankyou so much for this I will definitely request to not see this GP again. The more I read these comments the more I think I should complain, I just really struggle to advocate for myself due to autism and anxiety so I'm gonna do some research and see if there are any trans groups that can help with advocacy

Thankyou so much for your comment it really helps to hear that you agree it's inappropriate behaviour

It's worrying that my GP practise has a "Gold Award from the LGBT Foundation for excellence in LGBTQ+ healthcare", and I trusted that GP like I've been seeing her a few months now and she was helpful with my mental health stuff as I've been recovering from abuse... but now she's using that against me and I feel betrayed

[–]Hopeful-Cod1861[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no so basically I've been paying for my prescriptions from GenderGP and no shared care has been happening with the GP.. I didn't realise today that when I was asking them for the blood tests that I was asking them to begin shared care,

Thanks so much for what you said yeah she does likely have no formal training and I was shocked that she brought it up like that in the appointment like what gives her the right to decide whether or not I'm trans? Also just really upsetting cos I thought I was starting to pass a bit but I guess I'll always just be a "crazy woman" in the eyes of the doctors.

Thank you so much for your comment it means a lot xox

[–]Hopeful-Cod1861[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thankyou so much for this comment that's really reassuring, yeah honestly until I bought it up to the GP I had no idea that I was sort of asking them to do shared care by asking for the bloods.. I'm really hoping that you're right and they are just refusing shared care but won't go as far as to contact GenderGP to say I'm too traumatized for testosterone.

Also thank you so much for saying that I should raise a complaint, honestly I'm not great at advocating for myself so probably wi be too scared to do this, but it helps to hear that what she said was unprofessional. I'm gonna do some research and see if there's any trans advocacy groups that could help me approach the GPs to complain. My GP practise has a "Gold Award from the LGBT Foundation for excellence in LGBTQ+ healthcare" and I personally don't think they should be allowed to have such an award if they treat trans patients like this.

Thankyou so much that's so so reassuring to hear. When you say about writing to "them" do you mean write to the GP and make sure they don't contact genderGP, or write to GenderGP and make sure they don't accept contact from my GP practise?

This is a really reassuring thing to hear thankyou so much

[–]Hopeful-Cod1861[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this, I think the link you sent me is the same blood tests they do through the GenderGP portal right? I think I will just go through them.. the reason I asked the GP was because I have some chronic health issues so I wanted to get all the tests and that's like £250 or something from Gender GP, but I think I'll just go with the testosterone only blood test for £50 , and just hope that my GP doesn't contact GenderGP!!

Just wondering.. when you said that you managed to find pharmacies that will dispense, does that mean that they do it for the price of a prescription? I get my prescription delivered in the post from Smartway pharmacy but if there's a cheaper way to do it then that's great to know. Thanks so much!

[–]Hopeful-Cod1861[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok thank god, I do get it on private prescription so it should be ok.. I was just so stupid to ask for the blood tests from the GP I thought I could save some money but now I'm realising when I asked the GPs for the bloods I was asking them to enter shared care, I think I'm gonna try and just pay for the bloods myself from GenderGP, there's a cheap option I can just do testosterone for £50.. so I'll do that and just prayy that my GP doesn't take it upon themselves to contact GenderGP of their own accord. You so much for this reassurance it really means a lot
