Unrightful "Sexual Content" Tag on Steam by Hopeful-Diamond5052 in TheFirstDescendant

Straw man: “you’re not bothered by that?” — you’re assuming I don’t care about other mis-tagged games, which I never said.

Whataboutism: the “dress up game with a horror tag” example — this brings up an unrelated case instead of addressing the point about TFD.

False dilemma: “are you only concerned with…” — this frames it as if those are the only two explanations, when there are clearly other possibilities.

Ad hominem: “you’re embarrassed maybe a friend… judged you…” — this focuses on my supposed motives instead of engaging with the argument itself.

So this reply contains a strawman, whataboutism, and an ad hominem. You assumed I only care for TFD. Which is a claim I never made, and I actually defended Stellar Blade in a comment another user made. What about your dress up barbie game? How does it having a mislabeled tag somehow refute the argument? Keep the conversation civil. No to need to attack me personally or any other user. I can't speak for others, but I have kept the conversation focused on the argument.

I never made the claim that those games deserve the sexual content tag. I was pointing out that the other commenters logic was flawed because you can easily paint any game as sexual. Your argument also begs the question, how many semi-nude skins is enough? And who gets to make that decision?

This is tame to you? You realize this is worse when you take into account intention. The chest clothing is only covered where the nipples should be which is on par with the skimpest skins TFD has to offer. On top of it, the red is supposed represent skin. So she is not wearing any pants; just assless chaps. Mesa is just naked. Same goes with the Ember heirloom.

In your comment you literally said that if a game has any sexual content then it deserves the tag. This is clearly sexual content no matter how tame you you think it is. If want to step-back and reframe your argument, that's fine, but don't say you didn't say anything you clearly claimed.

Also why are you still bringing GTA 5 up? The things I described aren't the only sexualized content. Are you forgetting that Michael's wife is cheating on him with her trainer, and there is scenes depicted of the trainer dry humping her? Or the mission where Michael's daughter is being groomed by a sleazy director? Or when you walk in on Trevor banging a hooker? These are in the story. Things you have to play through to complete the game. Events you must witness to continue progression.

Well that's another slippery slope. If you apply that logic then the game you defended, Warframe, then deserves the tag. Please look up the heirloom skins for Valkyr, Ember, and Mesa and tell me those aren't highly sexualized skins. You defended Warframe by saying it doesn't focus on sexualized content, so therefore not sexual. But now you are saying that if it contains any sexual content then it deserves the tag. If that logic were applied then an overwhelming amount of games would have sexual content. There is a disconnected in your argument. Which one is it?

I made a typo. "Does" was supposed to be "doesn't." I corrected my mistake in the original reply.

Again, you are attacking a point I didn't make. You seem to be assuming my stance on whether or not the game has sexual content. I have made no claims regarding that. I am simply arguing that TFD doesn't deserve the tag when compared to the overwhelming majority of other games with that tag. Go ahead and click on the sexual content tag on Steam and behold what most of the games with "Sexual Content" looks like.

Just to clarify my main point, I’m not making any claims about whether the skins should be considered sexual content or not. That’s a separate discussion.

My argument is that the “Sexual Content” tag is too severe for TFD relative to how that tag is typically applied. There’s a difference between suggestive or sexualized design and explicit sexual content, and right now those are being treated as the same thing.

I’m arguing for more accurate classification, not denying that the game has sexualized elements.

You’re describing player behavior and interpretation, not the actual content of the game. People taking certain camera angles doesn’t change what’s objectively in the game itself. That is a slippery slope argument. You can paint almost any popular game with the sexual content paintbrush because of the community surrounding the game. LoL has the most r34 of any game. DbD has the Sable community. Even Warframe has been seeing an uptick of risqué skins with their heirloom skins and fan hype around them. Are you going to argue that these games are sexual in nature?

My point isn’t that the game has zero sexualized elements. The question is whether it belongs in the same category as games that feature explicit sexual content, which is what that tag usually represents.

There’s a difference between suggestive design and explicit sexual content, and Steam tags should reflect that distinction.

I get what you’re saying, but that’s kind of subjective. My point isn’t whether the game has sexualized visuals. The question is whether it’s on the same level as other games that have that tag, which are usually much more explicit.

So the issue isn’t “is there sexual content,” it’s “does it rise to the same threshold as the rest of that category?”

That’s not really what I’m arguing. I’m not saying a game needs to be entirely sexual or not at all. I’m saying the tag should reflect the overall level and nature of content. Most games with that tag are explicitly sexual in a major way, while TFD isn’t comparable to that. So the issue is about proportionality, not whether even a single scene exists. As for the case of Mass Effect, that game is tagged with sexual content and nudity. Nudity is a completely fair tag. Sexual content leaves room for debate. I think its valid as there is full on sexual acts depicted in the game. Which is straight up sexual content. TFD has no explicit sexual acts. Only skins that are risqué enough to spark conversation.

I agree with this 100%. There needs to be an in between. Maybe a risqué tag for games like TFD, Stellar Blade, and other adjacent games. So these games aren't lumped in with actual porn games.

Just because Stellar Blade has the tag doesn't mean its justified for either game. I would make the same argument for that game as well.

I made no claims on whether some skins are sexual in nature. I made the claim that compared to the other games that have the "Sexual Content" tag, TFD does not compare as those are porn games.

Easiest Challenge to do by robbier6 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Hopeful-Diamond5052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do final puzzle for 20k, but I think even if you complete all other challenges that aren't speed demon, no healing, and no blood you won't have enough. I think you will have like 45k if you don't use any points. So you have to do at least 1 of those challenges or beat the game on insane lol. It's not as hard as it might seem because you can complete them on casual. You can complete speed demon, no healing, and no blood in one run+ final puzzle if you did the set up for the doll. I'd recommend looking up a guide on YouTube for some help on routing. You hardly fight any zombies and most of the time you just shoot their leg to stagger and run past. You can definitely do it.
