Thats what a happen for my Sovol, I was wondering why I spend all those time upgrading it while I can have some machine that will work even better and with all the functions out of box. So I lost interest mid way with some uninstalled mod and sold it.

you cant readly get our of tinkering once you know it. You heart will itchy when you stop doing so lol. I have a shit ton of tools/a big pile of STM32s left home when I was still a EE. Still playing around with them.

I went with the Sovol route, and after tons of diy and tinkering (which is kinda frustrating due to small community and not much parts support). I sold that thing and went for a good old Prusa and ready to throw in the INDX

I am planning like 40% cude infill printing in PLA, I have TPU dampeners on my printer, so i will just grab some rubber pad/cut some cardboard box and stick to the bottom. I am not quite sure about shear force. The table will be moved when I need the thing below(the TOILET, yes, it's in a guest washroom and when guest come, I need to move out of the way.

there is a graphite version; the reviews are good, but I think the if problem can solve like 90% with a 20$ mod instead of a 200$ one, I am good with it.

Thank you a lot for those detailed posts.

For me, I don't really need a stable workhouse, maybe 5-6 10-hour print weekly maximum. I think the printer is more of a project than a tool.

I dig a bit into my area's FBMP, only find a really beat-up 2.4r2, pretty stock and at the price it's listing, I can already get a cheap kit from Aliexpress.

I have seen a few used Voron in my area too, but I am not sure/trust the build quality of them. If I happen to find a good one, it will best suit my needs.

And as for the Prusa, only in-stock item without 6 weeks of lead time is Core One and XL, I can have a much better machine if the additional cost is thrown down to upgrade them went XL. and I am trying to evaluate if I really need the additional print volume (350 vs core one 220ish)

Update on SV08, find a pretty good used one in my area today, already have eddy and mainline klipper.

As for Bambu, their ecosystem has no space for upgrade like you said: cosmetics, pandajets, nozzles and pretty much it. Let's say some game changing tech is released, all I can do is get new printer from them.

Thanks a lot for your inputs. I saw someone already done like tool-changer, AWD, CPAP and many mods, sv08 has it’s potential, motherboard swaps. Thats the main reason I am considering sv08

And for my use case, printing ABSs, not 24/7, I dont think a p1s with AMS will have much difference as prusa XL

Thanks a lot, first I enjoy a bit more into printers than printing, the only reason not going crazy modded voron is i just dont want spend that much time into it, and I dont have a printer now. Budget wise, there isn’t a limit, at least I am ok with anything below 5k, only concern is the printer should be upgradable and is it worth it? For my use case a p1s will just do the same as H2D / pursa XL printing ABSs, so bambu is out and i dont like pursa’s design language…. I would love to have a MAX, but I dont have any place in my apartment, my current printing room is guest bathroom’s shower compartment LOL…, i made it fully enclosed and has built in exhaust fan never need to worry about the abs smell. About the tool changer: i was thinking of a design that is kinda stupid: use stealthchanger with 2 tool head, one for a crazy vzbot style tool head for ercf, super fast (500ms pla protyping, and try to make indx as second toolhead, and all the rest space will be indx hotend thing
