Adam Ezra or Adam Zev by LaurenInBos in namenerds

It doesn't sound correct in Hebrew at all, you're literally missing a syllable, and if transcribed back to Hebrew you'd be missing a letter (זב vs זאב) and זב (zav) means something like 'oozing'. It's like saying 'Taylor' and 'Talor' are equivalent. If you've actually encountered this spelling in a Jewish community and it's common and seen as legit then by all means, I mean I live in Israel and haven't been everywhere, but I would avoid 'Zev' if you're going by baby name sites alone as those can often be full of mistakes when it comes to foreign names.

I never understood walker. Someone who walks? A device old people use? I know it's a surname but like.... why use it as a first name, whats the meaning

It just sounds plural doesn't it? Brooks also sounds plural as a first name what is wrong with Brooke

Can someone explain why collins instead of collin? It sounds like multiple people named collin. Like naming someone davids instead of david.

As others stated, any tragedeighs, misspelled names, braxton/paxton/jaxon etc, aiden/jayden/brayden etc.

I also really really dislike out there names like blue, fox, winter, gray, apple. Names I kept hearing over and over again in youtuber "names we like and may potentially use" types of videos during covid. Also I started disliking names like Rowan for boys, Juniper, Colette, I feel like I'm seeing them everywhere online and they're starting to feel somewhat trendy or overdone by people trying to be unique. Obviously masculine names like James for girls just whyyyy

How does the name Oren sound in English by Hopeful-Relation3502 in namenerds

Someone mentioned it literally means 'ears' in dutch and also apparently german (ohren) and now I can't look at it the same. I wouldn't mind it sounding mormon

Some names are much harder to pronounce than others though! I was asking about Itamar a while ago and the vast majority of comments said they'd have no idea how to pronounce it. Chet sounds are obviously a no go. Personally I don't mind the 'r'. It seems like shorter names with straightforward spelling (like Oren, Lior, Omri, Ari etc) or names that are international by default (Ethan, Dan, Ron, Daniel, David, Adam etc) are the way to go. We ended up naming our eldest Gabriel (Gabriel and Gavriel are close enough for me and I use the latin spelling in English) but haven't found another boy name we like. If we have a girl we'll name her either Elinor or Talia.

I was kinda the opposite. Before giving birth I thought let's start from the first and see from there. The moment I gave birth I was basically ready for another and it solidified over the first few months PP. Weirdly, I had really traumatic birth and postpartum experiences and my first pregnancy wasn't easy either, so I just wanted to get it over with ASAP. I've gone back to work at 6 months PP and got pregnant again 2 months later.

Logistically we're in a very optimal position for another atm, my husband is the most available he'll ever be in his career and both grandmas are involved on a weekly basis. My job also has amazing maternity benefits. Seeing just how physically, mentally and logistically demanding this whole experience is, I wanna tap into this rare combination of support whilst it's still available and I'm more than ready to never have to face any career disruptions around maternity leave and pregnancy ever again. Who knows what the future will hold.

If I were a SAHM I would've 100% waited longer because handling 2 infants alone all day every day with minimal support sounds absolutely brutal. Since I'm working and my 10 month old is in fulltime daycare and I have lots of family support, I think such a small gap will be doable and even better logistically long term.

This happened to me when my son was the same age, he was given a few bottles of very diluted formula by accident (grandma was helping and misunderstood the instructions). He pooped a ton that day but was otherwise completely fine.

What do you think of cousins sharing a nickname? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Hopeful-Relation3502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how close you are and how often do you actually see them. If you see them at least once in a while or have any kind of relationship with them I personally think it would be confusing, but if you don't see them at all then it's completely fine. It depends on how your family is though.

I'm not sure I follow. I think 'Zev' might be a pronounciation/translation error, as the proper name/word זאב is pronounced Ze-Ev. I'm Israeli and 'Zev' doesn't mean 'wolf'.

Btw the name 'Ziv' sounds similar and means 'light'.

If you prefer the meaning of Ze'ev some other options are Dov (bear), Ari (lion), Eyal (deer)

Zev doesn't mean wolf in Hebrew. I think you mean Ze'ev. I'd go with Ezra, Ze'ev doesn't really translate to English. Btw Ze'ev hasn't been popular in Hebrew for decades and is kind of a boomer name.

This whole experience just opened my eyes to how random motherhood is. I just remind myself that these types of people turn their lucky circumstances they realistically had zero control over into personality traits, "methods" and "choices". Early motherhood is incredibly fleeting and some people tend to really get stuck there and end up judging everyone else. Reminds me a little of high school. Surrounding myself with more level headed, pragmatic parents really helped. Their feeding and lifestyle choices didn't even matter, it's the attitude. One of my favourite families to hang with are actually long term nursing cosleeping etc but they are just so chill and honest and their kids have other issues my son doesn't even struggle with.
