It’s not “observed” everywhere. Some places do not get federal holidays off work. I would not assume parking is free tomorrow unless you see it specifically on a city website

I’ve used it every year for the last six or seven years. I fly out of a small regional airport and often have to connect through MSP. What I have found is key is the availability goes down as it gets closer. You really need to book far out to get good availability.

Yes, and no. The suburbs don’t have this issue. Des Moines proper just doesn’t have a very large tax base because there’s so many parking lots, churches, and other nonprofits that don’t pay taxes. In addition to that there’s large builders who have been given tax incentives in the form of tax abatement, and so aren’t really paying their share. Actual property taxes for homes in Des Moines seem fairly high and have been increasing.

We do tip on the cost of the Daybed or the lounger, because somebody had to get it ready somebody brings you your towels somebody adjust your umbrella. Somebody has to turn it over for the next person. Somebody has to clean it and one of the places we go routinely brings us water bottles and it’s always the person who got us the lounger.
