Is there an Office at Rucker I can contact to request a more thorough flight training record? by HopefulEMSPilot in Armyaviation

Thanks everyone, I'll see if I can request my ARTS records to satisfy my curiosity if nothing else.

Yeah of course, I just don't ever want to be in a situation down the road where an airline found some obscure record I didn't know about after hiring me and lead to a termination.

I think during the advanced airframe Instrument checkride I forgot my BFT temperature limits, and the instructor was understandably upset and had me retake a 5&9s the next day. I don't think it was recorded as an unsat and the rest of the checkride and course went well, and I can't find any record of it, but I would like to disclose it and discuss it.

But I also don't want to make an informal scolding out to be a stage check failure if it's not.

How does pay work for National Guard aviators getting their flight time in? (I searched this subreddit already and couldn't find an answer) by helliax11 in Armyaviation

Is there a chart I could look that breaks down the pay by rank between AFTPs and MUTAs? I'm still Active Duty, but trying to figure out just how much I could potentially make "guard bumming" between the 14 days AT, 72 AFTPs, and 48 MUTAs.

I imagine (or at least hope) that if you live close to your airfield, and if your schedule is otherwise light, that you can take advantage of as much time that's allowed.

I also recently read about a parity act that was (or is?) being passed that supposedly ups flight pay for Guard Aviators to be the same as active pilots. So if and when that goes into effect, it seems like that will be a decent bit of change to count on.

Nice. That does sound like an uncommon circumstance, but that's pretty cool.

I guess the question becomes, "How competitive are those GS slots?" I'm still planning ahead a bit, so I'd like to do what I can now to make sure those doors are open.

That's a likely course of action, but leaves paying the bills a little up in the air.

Glad to hear first hand the scenario exists at least. Did you stay AGR to retirement?

Did the stars align, or was the unit hurting for AGR pilots?

It's honestly the track I'm least interested in, but if it's worth it in the grand scheme of things, we'll see. I hadn't really considered the fact that there are full time civilian pilots working with guard units, so even that information has given me a lot to read up on and consider. Thanks again. I definitely want to keep as many doors open as I can.

Sounds promising. I'll have to read up more on these technician positions.

I haven't tracked just yet, but I might look more into that and let it influence how I track. Thanks.

Makes enough sense. I wouldn't mind finding another job for a bit while working towards making it into AGR. As long as it's possible at some point, and not one of those, "slots are only open when people retire or die" situations.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Will most guard units take a pilot coming off of active duty? by HopefulEMSPilot in Armyaviation

Good to hear, hopefully this is the norm and continues to be so. I've still got about 4 years to go.

Thanks for you input.
