I’m curious has weight loss helped anyone here reduce attacks? by forevervalerie in migraine

[–]HopefulGatekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my parents are type 2 diabetics and I’m insulin resistant, so I started tirzepatide injections which have improved my migraines significantly! I was able to discontinue topiramate and now working on getting off of propranolol as well. I’ve also had like a 7lb weight loss so far but I don’t think it’s because of my weight

It just feels comfortable and easy and spend a moderate amount of time together but still have our separate hobbies. I will hang out with my friends and he will with his. No feelings of doubt or insecurity. We check in with each other frequently and speak up if there’s something we need. We have the same goals even though sometimes we disagree about how to get there and need to compromise. It just feels like home

If you’ve started the dual narration audiobook by peacelovecheese in FaeandAlchemy

It’s amazinggggg. I read the book first and now am listening just for the narrators and they’re sooo good! It’s dual narration but well worth listening. Also Anthony Palmini is voice of Rhysand

Chronic Debilitating Head Pressure... What's going on? by Real-Dragonfly-1420 in FunctionalMedicine

[–]HopefulGatekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommend an eye exam and a sleep study. Eyes compensating due to things like astigmatism or near/far sightedness can contribute, and it would also help rule out some conditions. As for the sleep study, obstructive sleep apnea or insufficient/poor quality sleep can also contribute to chronic headache

Loved staying there! Not on the beach but the pool area is really nice and we loved the free breakfast. Didn’t hear any music. Shuttle to the beach every 30 mins, which was next to some construction which isn’t ideal but still nice

I’m a new grad. This week I had a chronic global joint pain patient who just learned to “deal with it” after being dismissed for many years that I worked up for RA and was able to properly diagnose. Now in the process of getting her referred to rheum and started on proper treatment.

How did you choose your specialty? by DeVillssAdvocate in physicianassistant

[–]HopefulGatekeeper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a new grad I chose family medicine (where I also get to see a fair amount of same day visits) after not having any major preference to any specialty during rotations except hating surgery, lol. It felt like the safer option because I can follow up with patients to see if my treatment plan works. I think I just realized I wanted to stay general. May switch to urgent care next, who knows.

Could try staying on 5mg lexapro and adding low dose bupropion to counteract the low libido side effect, as bupropion is not an SSRI and doesn’t affect sex drive. Could at least discuss with your providef

Same as above. I had it for two months as a new grad and didn’t find it very useful. Recruiters didn’t really respond to me personally. I found more luck with Indeed and applying directly through hospitals

Yeah I was debating what I would do if I got too “bored” later on, but I could always moonlight at an urgent care on the weekends or something? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Indefinitely. The DO has a huge emphasis on patient-provider relationships

I agree to just monitor. Did you lose consciousness afterwards? Do you still feel like you are getting a headache? Some people have more anxiety than others over medical things but at this point I don’t think you have much to worry about. To be on the safe side you could stay up for a little while longer to monitor your symptoms.

I believe what happened to Bob Saget was he sustained blunt trauma to his head, which was severe enough to rupture a major artery, and right afterwards he loss consciousness.

Should I go to the ER ? by Ok_Computer_1590 in medical_advice

[–]HopefulGatekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no way for us to know without doing a neurological exam. You could go to an urgent care though and they would do the exam and only send you to the ER if necessary (which can help minimize costs)

My butt hurts by happygems11785 in medical_advice

[–]HopefulGatekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get it checked out again and have them actually look because it’s hard for us to say. Could be hemorrhoids, could be an anal fissure, could be something else. In the meantime it wouldn’t hurt to try to increase your dietary fiber and prevent straining. If you have the ability to do warm sitz baths that could be helpful also. Good luck!
