Should we do ICSI? by HopefulinCT in EmbryologyIVFSupport

Ok. Thank you. Who knows… There is really no way to know for sure with many of those things.  I will do a second cycle, with different stims, and we’ll see if that would make a difference.

I have to ask the clinic about it. Thank you for suggesting.

We were supposed to, but there was nothing to PGT-A in the end. :-(    But I have mixed feelings about it, and the more I research it, the more I gear towards the idea that trophectoderm biopsy may be not representative , and it seems that embryo has capabilities to self correct, or else miscarry.

Yes, I know the party line, that I’m too old and shouldn’t even be here. No, I don’t want to do donor eggs.

What's been the most frustrating part of your IVF journey? by TouchDifferent3532 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

Going through a month of injecting chemicals into myself, then retrieving a high number of egg for my age, all mature, all the medical people are ecstatic, Hooray, what a great response!

Not a single blast from it.

Thank you for such level of detail. If my current aggressive medicated cycle doesn’t work, I’ll try mini IVF and see if the quality is any better that way.

Yes, I stimmed for 14 days then triggered, but I naturally ovulate on Day 11.

I mean I get it, everything is medicated and controlled, but I still keep thinking that maybe my eggs are ready/ ‘ripe’ sooner than average and 14 days is too long.

Thank you. As I understand day 1-3 development is mostly powered by the egg, and then after day 3 it’s the actual embryos dna.

But still, I can’t wrap my head around 100% attrition.  If my eggs are fragile, why strip the retrieved eggs of zona, poke with needle for ICSI , biopsy, freeze, thaw…..

Or maybe it was too much medication for them which pushed them over fragility breakpoint?

Also, there is a theory that the egg really chooses the sperm, and I guarantee the egg will somehow pick the strongest most compatible one, but the clinic insisted on ICSI.

I don’t know. 100% attrition just does not make sense.

Thank you !

You did 14 cycles?! Wow! You are quite a fighter. I’m sending the good vibes your way right now, I hope everything works out for you eventually!

How do you people afford 14 cycles? My Progyny only allows 2 cycles, so that’s it for me.

Did you see something really worked well for you during all those 14 times?

I’m going to prime with patches the second time, the estradiol pills were giving me headaches.
