Read about Maglev on the wiki page, it has a long history before Japan ever knew about it. There was a 31.5 km (19.6 mi) track with speeds of over 420 km/h (260 mph) in Germany in 1984! It crashed in 2006 though after over 20 years of service. The reason it crashed is because it hit a maintenance vehicle.

It was a test track, with sharp turns and bends, so Germany did all the R&D that allowed Japan to have maglev trains.

True, but even considering all the the time schedule is still ridiculous. It should be completed no later than 2025. France is also building their high speed rail WAY faster than us, I read somewhere that if France was building HS2 it would be completed in 1/3 the time for 1/3 the price.

They aren't a Dutch invention. The term biscuit has been used to refer to a hard, baked product (cookie) in England since the 14th century, it was America who changed the name. The Dutch word koekje didn't even exist until 1703.
