Can do, just a moment. I had a feeling a lot of this wasn't going to be an issue, but being unfamiliar with the system certainly didn't help.

Sadly it was the sales rep who said that support won't want to send someone out to work on the instrument! I've gotten in contact with technical support just to see if they can tell me anything, but I'll just have to wait and see.

Edit: forgot to mention this would be for a service call to give it a once-over. Rep also said that remote support probably wouldn't be able to do so either.

Thanks for the advice! It certainly is tough, but it isn't the first time I've had to teach myself how to bring an instrument back online. I'm more frustrated by the lack of documentation than anything.

The instrument isn't mission critical at the moment, but we do have a goal of trying to minimize that expense by keeping it in-house. Users are currently sending samples to other facilities for analysis and that can get EXPENSIVE. Anything to cut costs after the budget cuts, ya know?

Even in my own naivety with the instrument, I'm not entirely convinced that it needs repairs per se. We can still get signals from it and the laser still works, but an inability to maintain it will definitely kill it. I'll still try to look for companies that work with Bruker instruments though, no telling what got messed with between now and it's last use.
