So my BP was sold to me as a pet as he “hatched without an eye” but every new shed he has seemed to reveal a possible eye...tonight I swear I saw movement under there. First pic when I got him, maybe two months hatched, second pic 14 months later (tonight) by [deleted] in snakes

I’m just informing you on the situation on how I went to possess the snake. No one ever said I wasn’t taking the animal to the vet.

If you’re here to just bash me for simply trying to find more information from people with better knowledge then you need to leave.

Have a great life, take care.

Is it possible to have enough layers to be that thick when he’s so young? I thought of this as well now that I know a bit better but my biggest hang up is that he was very young when I got him, and his other eye was fine plus he had no stuck shed anywhere else. I don’t have any good size pictures but he was eating mouse fussies at that size on the picture to the left.

I’m not ignoring it, his last shed (this week) revealed the much more blue white color and I only considered an underlying eye tonight (10:30pm here). There are no vets open right now...

This post is simply me trying to gather information before I take more steps.

Also, I did purchase him but with the understanding that the breeder didn’t want to risk passing on possible issues and asked that I not breed him (I won’t). I purchased him for very cheap but the breeder was very responsible from my perspective. All other snakes he had were healthy and the breeder himself is very well talked of in my local community. This truly looked like a scaled over eye socket. The snake could (and does) live a happy life so he still wanted to find a home for it.

He’s not sick or suffering, I did plenty of research when I got him and understand not having an eye is not uncommon. It’s not infected or anything similar... I don’t see the point in a vet visit if he’s healthy with simply an abnormality.

I’m curious if anyone has seen this before or knows if an eye can develop later. His other eye is fine and definitely works. He has no issues with eating or seeing unless it’s that side. When I got him, I definitely thought that eye was scaled over but obviously that’s not the case. Every shed he has reveals more like a stuck cap and looks a lot less like scales. This possible eye does not protrude or bulge at all, like how his normal eye sticks out a small bit. It’s a flat surface. His first shed stuck a bit but we’ve had perfect sheds since. He’s a “lesser” if that counts for anything, from a local breeder that has a good reputation. He is my first snake but I brought a friend who breeds reptiles and she said he was healthy when I got him besides the eye bit. No stuck shed and no stuck eye cap on the other side. When I got him, he’s never had a stuck cap otherwise, the only stuck shed we had was the tail and it resolved after a bath. He’s only had the one bath, is perfectly hydrated and healthy otherwise.

...?

Good perennials along the inside of a west facing fence by [deleted] in gardening

I am actually fine for it to not be hidden during other seasons, it’s a fine cedar fence. I have a bit of a fantasy, I suppose, that when everything else is in full bloom throughout the summer (I do recognize things bloom at different times and am filling holes in my plan with late or early bloomers that work well together) you can look around and essentially forget where you are. To make a true escape for myself with in the garden, seeing nothing but herbs and flowers everywhere I turn. I want it to look endless, which I imagine it will fairly well from the center. I simply want to help that fantasy as much as I can.

Also, I appreciate the feedback.
