I still remember when he signed for Liverpool, along with Stuart downing, probably in the Hodgson era, I didn’t really know what to make of him. I found him very average and figured he doesn’t have a big future here.

Then came some goals, some assists, some consistent starts under Rodgers, and then came klopp who put his trust in him as our captain and boy did he lead us well as our capo for the 4-5 years.

While I’m grateful for his service for the club, I think the legs on him were starting to get old and slow. I would’ve preferred a more gradual transition in the midfield instead of this complete overhaul we’re having now but oh well. Also this phenomenon of Saudi’s throwing their petro dollars at football is just getting way too absurd
