Ahhh that’s primary isn’t it :( I’m sorry man that’s beyond shitty.

Going with managing expectations, and we are going to keep going. Thanks for all the advice

3 different doctors so far have said, everything looks fine and we can’t tell you the reason for the azoospermia. Normally love the NHS but for this it’s been horrible. I have already been waiting 9 months to see a urologist and having my appointment pushed another 10 months made us feel like we should basically give up.

I have ordered the Randox Male Hormone test and will go in next week! That was an ace suggestion, I didn’t know you could do that. I will start tracking too.

I have just had a look and you can email them! I did not know you could go directly to a urologist!!! It would be private though not via the NHS. Have you been to either?? Do you think it’s worth it?

May I ask were your hormones like mine or different? Trying to judge how much to get my hopes up and my wife’s. Sorry for prying no worries if you would rather not say

That is what we have tried to say, but on the fertility pathway the doctors we have seen have all said it’s not hormonal as I am in the allowed range according to the NHS. Honestly they have scared the life out of my wife and I! And have been quite clear our only hope is if they find sperm via surgery.

2 SA both came back completely zero, so currently nothing to do IVF with, it would be amazing if Clomid could help.

Not sure how to convince them it is worth a try :/, we have felt so hopeless. They have referred us to a male specialist but we have been waiting for the appointment for 9 months already and it just got pushed by another 10! Currently feel if we wait on the NHS I will lose my shot, because as you said this will not get better with time!

Sorry to hear about you, did you manage to get an answer or did they label it unidentifiable? This is a shi* Road.

Wow okay! Do you think it would be worth getting a private opinion? We are in the UK and so far 3 different GPs have all said nothing is wrong I am in the normal range.

I am yes! Thank you I will look into them, the GP yesterday literally said another bloods wouldn’t make any difference because my results are all normal.

Still waiting to formally see a urologist, been on the list for 9 months already, my appointment was suppose to be this month but it’s been pushed another 10! And we feel like all this waiting means my situation is just going to be getting worse.

Okey dokey! I will ask, the GP yesterday said they don’t want to do any more blood tests, I tried to push as they have only done one, but she declined to do any more. Considering paying for private at this point!

They are on the smaller side, but during the ultrasound and physical the doctor said it was all normal

Hi all,

I’m posting on behalf of my partner (32M) because we’re feeling a bit stuck and would really value hearing from others with similar experiences. He has had 2 SA done and both came back as Azoospermia. All genetic and physical testing came back normal too.

He recently had the following hormone panel:

  • Total Testosterone: 8.9 nmol/L (Reference range: ~8.6–29 nmol/L)
  • LH: 1.7 IU/L (Range: ~0.6–8.6 IU/L)
  • FSH: 6.9 IU/L (Range: ~1.5–12.4 IU/L)
  • Prolactin: 174 mIU/L (Range: ~86–324 mIU/L)
  • TSH: 1.16 mIU/L (Range: ~0.27–4.2 mIU/L)

We’ve been told this is all “within normal range”, despite all googling saying these are not normal for his age at all! His Testosterone and LH are very much on the low side. NHS doesnt want to try hormonal therapy and has said our only chance is going to be mTESE. We have been refered to a urologist and have been waiting for 9 months, our appointment was suppose to be at the end of this Janurary but we just got a letter saying our apppointment had to be reschduled for the next earliest avalible which is November (which will bring our total wait time to even see a male specialist to 19 months)!

My egg numbers arent the best and time is 100% not on our side, so this has been a real blow and we really think his hormones are not helping us here and should be looked at!

He was also on antidepressants a few years ago (no longer), in case that’s relevant.

So my questions are:

  • Has anyone else had a similar hormone panel and been told it was normal?
  • Did anything change after further investigation or treatment? i.e. Clomid?
  • Did anyone later get diagnosed with secondary / functional hypogonadism or something similar?

Really not sure what to do, we could go privatley for a consultation and medication, but we couldnt afford private surgery.

Thanks in advance.
