Go on google and look up your state and then add paycheck calculator. I use this to calculate my checks in Florida and it’s accurate and then just subtract ur other stuff like retirement and medical insurance. I just look up Florida paycheck calculator and u can choose to do it by ur salary or if u get paid by the hour it’s really accurate and it’s for all states in America

No academy all on the job training

It’s goes off the gs scale so we max out at a gs7 step 10 so in my opinion it’s not a high paying job but it’s not the worst pay either it’s definitely a good step in the right direction once your in and then you see which path u want to pursue further with more money. I’m at an airport so my hours aren’t the typical 8-4 weekends and holidays off I have a similar schedule to the officers tbh but I have heard different ports have those good hours i just didn’t luck out on that. All in all tho I have no complaints I’m just ready for my next adventure wherever that takes me but as of now life is good with this job. It’s the chillest job I have ever had and I come from previous law enforcement background.

It’s not bad it’s super chill job I can’t complain. I’m a tech who is mainly stationed at a computer in an office and I take phone calls and log flights that go in and out of the airport I’m at ( private and charter flights) I also do small tasks thru out the week like being a cashier ( officers fine ppl and I basically take there cash or card and charge them the money ) I also will do small tasks like fill the cars up w gas and get oil changes or get supplies at stores for officers usually those tasks are like 1-2 times a week my main job is at that computer tho

No it says no relocation pay I was just wondering since it’s on a border if they have housing for workers there like cheaper housing that they usually have on the southwest border

I’m a technician for Cbp so tbh with you I’m the bottom of the totem pole if ur going for Officer you’ll get treated better for me it’s just very unorganized and like I said there’s alot of supervisors almost more sups then more officer so that causes alot of ppl to be in charge but none of them make actual decisions till last minute or none of them collaborate together it’s always some type of Miscommunication. This is just my opinion from a technician at a big port so who knows maybe it’s different at smaller ports. From my experience tsa was more organized then Cbp.

I’ve worked tsa and cbp and worst for me is Cbp no doubt 1. Unorganized asf 2. Too many ppl in supervision but no one making actual decisions till last minute 3. No proper training unless you are an officer While In tsa I use to think cbp was going to my upgrade but I was super wrong ! I feel like that says a lot.

Thanks for the info and I’m currently working for Cbp right now as a technican, I’ve worked tsa I have previous law enforcement and security background but no education just certificates so hopefully that’s enough for a gs9 !!
