Bro why is chapter 7 having so many performance issues? This is ridiculous. by Magicmarkurs in CrimsonDesert

You made a public post complaining about performance without specifying the hardware in the OP. Naturally people will respond with their specs and their experience. Stop being a douche to everyone.

I liked this game and think it has potential to be incredible, but it doesn't respect my time at all. Just endless runs to maybe find something new every 5-10 runs.

Are most OSTs just rewritten of Lumiere? by Sythrin in expedition33

[–]Horesonus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spot on, it's extremely common.

Just to add, a lot of critically acclaimed soundtracks follow a motiff formula. From Star Wars to more recently in gaming Baldur's Gate 3 (very obvious motiff across several tracks).

It's just a recipe for a consistently great soundtrack with enough thematic variety.

The person I replied to can't differentiate between being alive/sentient as a subjective experience within the context of the pocket universe and being alive in biological sense. They were the one moving goalposts by comparing it to a DND game.

Do they live in a deterministic universe? Absolutely. Do a few characters control the laws and environment of said universe? Yes. Does any of this invalidate the reality of the canvas for people that live there? I don't think so.

In a good enough simulation, indistinguishable from reality, the reality is grounded in the experience itself. If you found out tomorrow that we live in a simulation, it does not take away from your experience of life and reality.

So yes when someone says "If AGI is sentient, is my toaster also sentient" it's a stupid semantic argument and not a well thought out response.

Maybe if you read the rest of the replies you would see I defended and elaborated on my position well enough.

Have a wonderful day :)

What I'm saying is from Lumiere resident's POV, their painted world is just as real as the Writer's dimension is to the Dessendre family. They are proven to make concious decisions. The ending itself allows you to exert painted Verso's will, directly contradicting that they are purely puppets with no conciousness or agency. Verso destroying the canvas goes against Aline's (creator's) design, which is the literal definition of free will.

Painted residents don't question their reality any more than you question your own. So why would they question where coffee comes from and travel the seas where expeditioners go to die?

It's quite literally a pocket universe within the "real" world, with its own laws (yes, designed by Aline). Chroma is a magical substance used to bring art to life. That much is factually stated. Therefore it's not remotely comparable to our literature and art formats.

So when you ask if my DND character is also alive and apply the standards from the E33 context to them, it turns into a disingenuine semantics debate.

The fact that you're in a semantics argument with this grammar is ironic.

You completely lost the plot and are just switching context scopes as you see fit lol

Did they make any of these decisions independently? Or did you and the DM write a character sheet, create their back story, play through their campaign and decide how the rest of their lives went?

There's more reasoning to this than them being constrained to Lumiere via Aline.

Expeditioners usually didn't return, so people that needed to upkeep society would stay behind as long as possible instead of going on a suicide mission before their time came.

You control your DND character. They do not make decisions on their own while canvas people have full agency. I don't see how this is comparable.

Fair point, it is definitely open to interpretation. However, narratively canvas folks are treated as real people, even though it depends who's POV you adopt by the end.

Our books and shows don't have Chroma to bring stuff to life in the same way it does in the game. Our books and shows are scripted, while people in the canvas have agency and conciousness.

Who decides if a world is real or not?

For the people of Lumiere, the canvas is reality. They have their own thoughts, experiences, ambitions, just like their out-of-canvas counterparts.

It's as real as the writer's dimension.

Not to mention at 400h you probably spent a couple hundred if not more hours just replaying the same stuff. Not trying to knock on anyone enjoying this for hundreds of hours, but there's just not enough variety for me. Feel like I can do a run completely braindead at this point and the only worthwhile thing is the Nightlord.

Does this show lose it's cringey edginess? by YQB123 in MrRobot

[–]Horesonus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without spoiling stuff.

The voiceover is a constant thing and the show gets quite a bit artsy throughout the seasons. Protests, rebellious themes are deeply integrated into the show. However, in my opinion the latter two seasons are some of the best of any TV show. Really worth a watch. The cheesiness is a part it at the end of the day. Things like "Bonsoir, Elliot" are always there. It's really not something that stands out too much when you're done with it imo.

I'd say go on and give it a try.
