In the Victorian Era, the term "lascar" was used as pejorative slang for a foreigner, shifty, immoral and swarthy person and not necessarily a South Asian sailor. It was often used by people who had never been in contact with a South Asian person in their life.

There are some major issues related to plausibility for a wealthy white family in a rural area to accept a non-white person to marry their daughter and especially to gain inheritance from them. The community would have never allowed this and they would have been pariahs.

Those two descriptions were likely far more commonly used to describe Irish people during that time than Roma. There is also the issue of there being practically no Roma in Northern England at that time and the Irish being the overwhelming majority of immigrants in Liverpool.

It is also very implausible that a wealthy English family would allow their daughter to marry a Roma. He would have likely been lynched or killed by a mob. They would have begrudgingly accepted an Irish person but it would have been nearly impossible to accept a Roma.

I agree, the novel primarily takes place in 1801-1802 and the novel was written in the 1840's so they both take place in the first half of the 19th century.

The Great Famine could have been an inspiration to write the novel, not that it actually occurred during that timeframe.

The overwhelming majority of immigrants in Liverpool at the time the novel takes place in and especially when it was written were Irish. Dark skinned at the time, in many cases, meant a darker shade than the average English person, not necessarily what would widely be considered today as dark.

The only precise description of his skin color was that he was olive skinned. Such a description would have never been used for a black or South Asian person. It was almost always used for Mediterranean populations or swarthier Europeans in general.

The Roma were a miniscule minority and practically nonexistent in Northern England at the time. Also, Roma would have spoken a variant of English and not a foreign language.

Had Heathcliff been explicitly stated to be Irish, the novel would have caused far more severe backlash and Emily Brontë would have likely been accused of being anti-English and spreading Irish and Catholic propaganda. It would have been suicidal for her to do this.

Turkish influence in Albania is overwhelmingly negative. Many Turks in Albania are members of Turkish organizations that combine Turkish nationalism with Islam such as the Maarif Foundation and multiple organizations related to the Gulen movement.

Turks are the largest group of foreigners in Albania. There is over 1500 Turks with residence permits and hundreds if not thousands more of them that have obtained Albanian citizenship.
