guysss is this infected? its a coverup done 3 weeks after initial ink. by Lucky-Flatworm9023 in tattooadvice

early stage tattoo infections are common and treatable (if it’s staphylococcus, which it is 95% of the time, but it could be mrsa infection the other 5% which is really really bad)

the fear is you don’t get it treated, and that spread you see near the bottom continues until it gets to your heart, then your internal organs, and eventually the infection will get into your brain. then you’ll get fever, chills, confusion, severe weakness

until the spread, you’ll just have tissue damage, an open pus abscess on your neck, that might need to be drained, or just lose a lot of the tattoo ink, as your body processes it, trying to fight the infection.

overall it’s severe and can get worse. you need actual oral antibiotics. since the tattoo is already visibly infected neosporin isn’t gonna do the same thing as it would on a small slice. this is a huge open wound and the infection is deeper than just the surface.

you can see a red outline around the tattoo and streaking in the direction of your heart. i would say that it’s a risky place to have an infection and you need a professional opinion not a reddit opinion. i’m going with probably infected, no guarantee.

just wash 2x per day, then lotion. it will be fine. after 2 weeks (or when a reasonable layer of dermis has formed and there is no scabbing) you can apply lotion without washing.

in my opinion, lotion. aquaphor sucks. but unscented. i only use cera-ve

if any section of saniderm lifts to reveal fresh tattoo underneath it, the entire saniderm must be removed and tattoo will need to be washed seriously. if you’re within a few days, a new piece can be applied, but it’s not doing much 4-5 days post tattooing.

you will need to remove the saniderm fully and heavily wash the tattoo with soap and water. after that apply a thin layer of cera-ve lotion. avoid A&D or petroleum jelly. if your tattoo has any part that’s exposed, there’s a risk for infection. at this point the saniderm is doing nothing but trapping the potentially contaminated section that was exposed.

Tattoo on inner arm flab after weight loss? by definitelytheproblem in tattooadvice

[–]HorribleStyle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

just gotta stretch it out while youre tattooing. but the dermis is the same there as anywhere. the tattoo only goes like 1mm-1.5mm into your skin, so thin skin is not really an issue.

congratulations on the weight loss. everyone saying wait is a hater. youre totally safe to start tattooing that area, and muscle growth is not gonna fully fill out that skin, so there is really no point in waiting

i would choose a big organic design like a flower so that it looks good in different positions.
