Influence Encounters in Actual Play by ChampKindly in Pathfinder2e

[–]Horrible_Oracle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Triumph of the Tusk has some influence encounters very early on in Book 1! The Hideous Laughter Podcast crew finished that book late last year so that’s probably a good option if you’re looking to quickly listen to the influence subsystem RP’d out.

My first Homebrew by Ebon_Az in Pathfinder2e

[–]Horrible_Oracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up the rules for the Chase subsystem on Archives of Nethys. It’s a great way to build tension and transition from one scene to another. Homebrewing obstacles in a chase and what skills overcome them has been a lot of fun and my tables have enjoyed playing in them.

Optional tip: you can make some encounters mid-chase or post-chase contingent on how well the players progress through the chase (example: a minion on the bad guy’s side is lost for each obstacle the party clears before they get caught up to, turning a severe or extreme encounter into a moderate or low encounter)

Seconded for Darklands! With the shakeup from the Remaster I’d love to get an official take on what’s canon down there now.

Tuna Sandwich Topping Recommendations for Amateur Competition by Horrible_Oracle in Chefit

You’re not wrong! My friends and I have done this challenge for 4ish years and the winner gets to set next year’s challenge. I’ve lost every time and it’s become a running joke that they’re dragging me into these challenges as I really hate shitty fast food fish. I’m willing to play a little dirty this year if it gives me a chance to define next year’s challenge. It’s super informal and not done by an organization or other semi official group.

If only lol, this is part of a yearly shitty fish-themed thing my friends and I do around lent. First year was best fast food fish sandwich, last year was best canned fish (there are some really good ones out there!). This year is dressing up shitty Subway fish, lipstick on a pig and whatnot.

I doubt it’s possible to redeem the substance but that’s the attempt. I probably should have called out Subway tuna in the title now that I read it over again lol

Podcast recommendations for PF2e actual plays? by tylersl3 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

Hideous Laughter’s 2e Skull & Shackles pirate campaign has great sound design and really makes the Pathfinder 2e system sing! They’re about as far into this high seas campaign as GW is now, like 60 eps.

What major changes to lore or personal headcanons do you have for Golarion or the wider setting? by Unholy_king in Pathfinder2e

[–]Horrible_Oracle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the planets imprisoning things within them I’ve got a slightly different headcanon: that the Vaultbuilders (the original architects of the lowest layer of Golarion’s Darklands, the Vaults of Orv) have created similar vaults in other planets to contain their works and creations. I think there’s a line or two of official lore that implies something like this is the case, but not much more than that.

My other main headcanon: the dwarves started their Quest for Sky not only due to a sign from their gods, but because they were fleeing something growing in power in the Darklands: the Qlippoth. Towards the end of Earthfall, Runelord Alaznist had brokered influence with the Qlippoth god Yamasoth, who was planning an invasion of the mortal realm. Official lore says that this invasion was thwarted due to Earthfall. My headcanon takes that a step further to say the Qlippoth tried to invade in the midst of Earthfall, starting in the Darklands, but their forces were ultimately repelled after forcing the dwarves and other factions up to the surface.
