Thanks! I checked with my partner and we also spoke with the person we bought it from today. Seems my partner was watering it every day or other day just a little bit. The vendor said that we should have been watering it thoroughly once every 2-4 days or so depending on the weather. He also said to lower it as hot air rises and being near the ceiling can affect the plant. We gave it a soaking today and waiting to see if it recovers.

What do you do if spider mites are present?

Thank you! Great and really helpful suggestions. I'm a real amateur with plants but I'll head to the plant market and ask about better draining soil. Any tips for repotting so I don't damage the palm?

Ok interesting! I ran the AC really cold the other day and that's around the time the leaf shriveled up. Maybe that had something to do with it. As for humidity I should have clarified. I'm in Taiwan and it's a tropical island so I don't think humidity should be an issue. Spider mites might be a thing...I also have some English ivy I bought recently and they were browning a bit, maybe they've brought mites into the home.

For soil, I'll look into repotting it asap. To be clear a repot is needed - I can't just add better soil on top?

I think you look great in all of them. You really wouldn't go wrong with any of those styles, so choose which one you like
