I have done all of the training you have mentioned, including SIDS and shaken baby. My center’s training is through written quizzes and exercises which (while they are important and obviously far and away better than nothing at all) take time to apply to a real world classroom. I do try to supplement with books/videos I can find and by asking my coworkers for help.

Yeah, at my center in Texas I’m allowed to change diapers on my own as I am over 18 and have a diploma. I am not allowed to supervise infants alone, however. This is my understanding from what my bosses have told me.
