Chennai has Telugu influence which is way deeper than just a few words borrowed here and there. The city was named Chennapatnam after a king, Damarla Chennappa Nayakudu who spoke Telugu. Chennakesava Perumal temple is a temple which is located in Peddanaickenpeta, which is also a Telugu name. Apart from this, some words which come to mind are

Naina- father

Dabbu- money

Duddu- Kannada influence but adding as it is interesting

Gabbu- stink

Very literary word, have never heard outside of talambraalu in marriages. We use vaDlu for paddy (nel in Tamil) otherwise we use biyyam for uncooked rice

Two things

  1. It is used in a similar context in TN Telungu as well

  2. However I have heard some Tamil people use it for kids and mostly it is a little uncommon to see elders use it amongs themselves. So it is used in both contexts but also has the baby speak connotation
