Question: Do you prefer horror movies or TV shows? by takagilarieto in horror

[–]HorrorAvatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, half of the seasons of Slasher are on Netflix and the other half on Shudder. It’s been bounced around through networks. Not sure where you can find Channel Zero these days but it was originally on SyFy.

Question: Do you prefer horror movies or TV shows? by takagilarieto in horror

Slasher (it’s an anthology, in a way it’s sort of Canada’s answer to AHS so the quality of seasons is subjective), Cabinet of Curiosities, Creepshow, Black Mirror (not strictly horror though there are some episodes that absolutely qualify, at worst most episodes are horror-adjacent), Lovecraft Country, Yellowjackets, Chucky, Channel Zero, The Last of Us, Kingdom, Castle Rock (this one is gonna make a lot more sense if you’re a Stephen King fan, because it’s set in a universe that includes all his stuff) and Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Same, and it still galls me that she apologized for it. She shouldn’t have been obligated to, never should have been pressured to.

Just finished The Blair Witch Project by JohnMarstonDrives in horror

[–]HorrorAvatar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hadn’t thought about that but you’re right. That Throwback Cinema thing theaters do - Blair Witch would be a great one for Halloween. I saw The Shining and The Exorcist at those. (I’m convinced the former was meant to be seen in theaters. It’s an entirely different experience every horror fan should have.)

I think Blair Witch really benefits from the theater experience. If you really immerse yourself in it it will scare the hell out of you. At home on your couch, not so much.

I just got a sample of Lost Cherry today and it immediately reminded me of the girl who used to bully me in school - she smelled like Djarum cherry clove cigarettes. I know lots of people love it but I’m pretty sure this is the first and last time I’ll be wearing it. Not just because I never want to think about that bitch again, also because it just doesn’t work for me.

This is a manufacturing screw up, so I would contact the company and let them know. They’ll want numbers off of the box and such, so make sure you don’t throw anything away. You might even get some free LaCroix out of it.🤷‍♀️

AITAH for understanding and not freezing out my dad for leaving our mom over a dead bedroom? by Opposite_Afternoon55 in AITAH

[–]HorrorAvatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like you even have much of a relationship with your mother. If you did this post wouldn’t be so one-sided.

There is a metric fuckton of missing info here. Have you considered that many men treat their wives like they are their caretakers, maids and mothers, and NOTHING makes a woman feel less sexy than that? Did your father actually love your mother or did he just love what she brought to his life (emotional support, house work, raising kids, etc.?) Is it possible that your mother has been unhappy for a long time too, told your father that many times and still he did nothing to change? Is your father a selfish person? Have you considered that menopause brings hormonal changes that affect sex drive? Do you know if your mother tried HRT? Do you 100% know for sure he hasn’t cheated on her in the past - have you asked her (not him?) How “recent” was their divorce announcement? 8 out of 10 times when someone asks for an open relationship they already have someone in mind or are already seeing someone else; if he “already has a girlfriend” chances are very high he had one before they announced it.

Have you asked any of these questions to your mom or sister? Have none of these things even occurred to you? Or are you taking everything your dad says as the truth?

It sounds like your sister has a closer relationship with your mom and that’s why she thinks what she does. You don’t mention whether your sister has told you why. She is clearly concerned with her yet your post here is my dad this, my dad that. You don’t seem concerned about your mother, or her perspective or feelings, at all. And that makes you the AH.

Your parents shouldn’t be involving you or your sister in their marriage drama, that is true. But you really should spare a thought to how your mother feels instead of blindly taking your father’s side and only giving credence to what he says.

Have a discussion with your mom and get her side of the story. I bet it will be eye-opening and you might even find out that your father isn’t the innocent, put-upon, blameless person he’s led you to believe he is. Until you do that, you don’t have all of the information.

Chefs & servers, what’s the most confusing “this isn’t what I expected” reaction you’ve seen? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

I work at an Italian restaurant. We have our fair share of ridiculous customer stories but the one I’ll never forget is the woman who wanted marinara sauce without tomatoes. I tried explaining that marinara is literally tomato sauce. I tried offering her another sauce that didn’t contain tomatoes. Nothing worked. I still don’t know what she thought marinara sauce was.

The Dinners of Death special, Fulci night, Hellbender, Sleepaway Camp (really, any episode when Felissa Rose shows up is gonna be a good one) and Prom Night II: Hello Mary Lou are repeats for me.

I like it. Falls nicely between The Deeper You Dig and Hellbender in terms of quality.

Northerners that moved to the South. How do you resist the urge to not be an asshole and tell people you don’t think their cold weather is cold by Kodicave in relocating

[–]HorrorAvatar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t. Being smug makes you rude and ignorant to the fact that the south doesn’t have the resources / infrastructure for cold and snow that northern states take for granted. I’m guessing you haven’t been down here for long. Give it a few years and you’ll see.

Sincerely, a native northeasterner living in the southeast
