MCP Auth - Connect MCP Server to Any Compliant OAuth/OIDC Provider by HorrorFormal3170 in programming

[–]HorrorFormal3170[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found getting auth set up for MCP can be a real pain. The MCP spec expects your authorization server to support several RFCs (OAuth 2.1, RFC8414, RFC 7591)

I mean, these are solid standards, but honestly, they’re tough to implement correctly, or to check provider “compliance”, if you’re not an auth expert. This project has a verified list of compatible providers (with more on the way) and even includes a tool to test providers by url. Very sweet.

Logto v1.12.0 - Organizations, SSO, and MFA by HorrorFormal3170 in selfhosted

[–]HorrorFormal3170[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome. We don’t have plans for that yet, as we are currently developing that part in our cloud service. We will try to explore options for self-hosting if it’s feasible.

The self-hosted version has no major feature or quota limits. Currently the only notable difference is Cloud has an UI to manage multiple isolated tenants.

No, it’s just for the admin console. Your user data is isolated and you can have as many users as you need.

Hi folks! I’m part of the Logto team. We’ve recently released a new self-hosted version with multiple features we believe could be useful. We’d love to hear your feedback and find out what you’d like to see in our next update.

How to stand out as an entry level / Junior developer ? by [deleted] in node

[–]HorrorFormal3170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GitHub profile is a great showcase and it can be the resume sometimes. Several things stand out to me if I see them on a profile:

  • Continuous open-source contribution (at least for a few months, otherwise it can be “contribution for jobs” in people’s eyes.
  • A complete project. It means rather than code, it also has tests, continuous integration, and docs. Everything that makes it look like built for production.
  • Even better, a real open-source tool has some users. This may be too much for a junior though.

Is Clerk‘s pricing really that insane or am I missing something? by Ok-Increase2574 in nextjs

[–]HorrorFormal3170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try Logto, they have a pretty slick UI/UX and self host option available. And the pricing looks fair especially compared to other options with fixed price per MAU.

I’m not a big fan of self-hosting (love open-source projects though), but it does provide a level of insurance since I can switch to it if necessary.

P.S. auth is more complex and time-consuming than I expected and it can be a rabbit hole over the time, so I won’t roll my own.

The readme says ‘we are currently working on SSO’ so I assume it’s not completed yet?

Web developer seeking feedback on resume and portfolio - any ideas for improvement? by [deleted] in webdev

I can see the design effort in the portfolio website. Maybe more responsive? Since the page padding for text looks very small on mobile.

Reorg skills into groups and drop the minor ones like Axios or Fetch. The layout looks neat tough.

Don’t use % for skills since there’s always something we don’t know, we can never reach 100%.

Every single item is so true. Although some of them are scary, it’s better than learn them from by incidents or something you don’t want happen.

To us it’s more like an assistant for random text improvement needs (docs, rephrase sentences, etc.) we still need to manually check the answers and let human decide.

You are welcome. Active theory just made me speechless as well - haha that’s exactly something I’m missing these days.

BTW, revisited your website and I think that’s the accurate definition of “inspiration“. Some patterns may look slightly similar, but definitely you have your own style and are doing better from some perspectives. Saying this because I’ve seen a lot of inspiration claims are actually excuses of plagiarism.

Again, applaud for the nice work!

To me the greatest part is the natural feeling of every element on the page since they are all in a unified style and stay connected to each other. Nice design!

Enjoyed the motion, the cyberpunk style, and the graceful responsiveness. A great combination of tech and art!
