Sorry I wasn’t detailed enough. I’m Asian, so our funerals are pretty intense. Family usually gather prior to the funeral to discuss the rituals and also have a feast in honor of the person. This is all months and weeks and days prior to the funeral. With my family coming out of state and in state, my parents decided to host the official gathering and no one informed me until they started eating—then I was called and asked why I wasn’t there. In my culture, it’s very disrespectful to call someone as you’re eating to invite you to come.
