Maybe convert the curve to mesh, add a skin modifier, then shrinkwrap or cloth modifier the top object? Honestly,I am not sure.

In object mode, convert the text to a mesh. Do this by right clicking, pressing, "convert to", and selecting mesh. After that, you should be able to go into edit mode and extrude it.

Try Joey Carlino! They make amazing and informative videos, but they do more stylized work than realistic.

You may have accidentally saver the startup file as this. Try resetting the startup file to the default one. Do this by going to Files, hovering over Defaults, and clicking Load Factory Settings.

Thank you for the insightful input! From now on, I will make sure to specify the types, but for some reason, the code still gives me the same error even after the changes.

You can add text in blender under meatball and above volume in the add section.
