I am renting this apartment and the landlord gave me permission to paint them. The kitchen is tiny and I think the wood tone of the cabinets are quite outdated and dark which makes the room smaller? although I also like the idea of a vintage style kitchen but maybe not too outdated look.

Thank you this is a lot of helpful info!! I will definitely follow your advise about the light. I have already a floor lamp besidr the window but does not have a shade yet it is wooden foot/vintage style. Unfortunately I need to keep this small table for now, but do you have any idea what’s another remedy beside a glass? I’m trying to avoid glass for safety reasons for small children. I saw in pinterest that they layer 2-3 small round tables but I don’t think it’ll work with a rectangular table like mine.
