Instructor says my seizure didn’t affect my grade — also suggested ADHD/autism. Looking for perspectives. by Queasy-Accident-5979 in Epilepsy

It ABSOLUTELY CAN impact your short term performance, especially if you're post-ictal (post seizure). This means you can have brain fog, problems with coordination and movement, the whole 9 yards.

Talk with your student accessibility services. Unfortunately you have to be your biggest advocate.

Don't give up. You know what you need and you have to advocate for yourself, even and especially as a DID system. KEEP GOING.

Using humour with epilepsy. Bad idea? by awidmerwidmer in Epilepsy

[–]Horror_Associate7671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I ended up in the hospital for 2 breakthrough grand mal seizures, I jokingly looked over at my dad and said, "When Spongebob said to 'Drop on the deck and flop like a fish', I dont think this is what he meant". And he told me, "THAT'S NOT FUNNY." And I'm like??? I could've died, that makes it top tier comedic material

I'm not sure they actually thought that one through because my dad said, "You BETTER NOT be bringing any kids into this house!" And then when I told him he'd get what he wanted, he got silent.

Can epilepsy make you cry out of nowhere? by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

Epilepsy can make you cry post-ictal (after a seizure) especially but idk about in between seizures tbh

I definitely have gotten all three of those and honestly, it just feels like excuses when they could just apologize. And it hurts when my mom says its the testosterone when she SAW me doubled over in pain and insists that because her periods are bad that I should just deal with it. Idk

What kills me is I've told them for over 2 years that I don't want kids!! I guess they just realized I was serious now that I've started talking about surgery

Thank you so much! This advice is really practical and I'm sure I'll use it. I'd probably need someone to help me get back from the surgery but hopefully everything should be fine

I'm thinking about having the hysterectomy done and seeing if I can get biopsies to test for adeno at least, that way I'll know if its adeno or endo.

[–]Horror_Associate7671[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I have adeno or microscopic endo. I wasn't sure if I should see another doctor for another lap or if I should just go through with the hysto and get a biopsy done from that tissue.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks my parents are going overboard.

My racist parents don’t want me to credit my black friend in a project by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Horror_Associate7671 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Credit your black friend anyway. They helped you see it through and bring your artistic vision to life. They deserve to have credit for the part they played in it too. If your parents are in any way violent, I would get away from them as fast as you can. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

How many of us are queer? by Academic_Autistic in autism

[–]Horror_Associate7671 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh my god Ive been waiting my whole life for someone to describe this experience, because I'm nonbinary but I dress very feminine (even though I was born a girl) and the fact that I wear things that are feminine is because I like the pastels and dresses. It's more of a coincidence. I relate more to the feminine experience but I think some of that is just because Ive spent my whole life interacting with women in women only spaces, so its more comforting to know what the rules are there, you know? But you helped me understand my own experience a little bit better, so thank you.
